Mock-Up Concept (Pixel Art)

Hey Eclipse, I recently started work on a long term project that I won't announce for a while (keeping the details under wraps until it's a solid concept). But I just wanted to show you guys a quick mock-up and get some feedback before I continue developing on my own.

Everything here is 100% custom made by me, and the GUI is basically a place holder rather than a final design. This mock-up showcases the projects character base with a test weapon equipped, 2 basic grunt enemies (Squeel & Screech), tree/grass tiles, and a closed loot chest.

*Please note, there will be much more tree/grass/tiles/shrubs/ect to make the environment more vibrant. This was just a quick mock-up to see the visual style of my project all together.

*When pre-production and concept work is further along, I will be in need of the following:

- Assistant Pixel Artist

- Lead Programmer (language not decided)

- Assistant Programmer

- Music Composer

Thanks for reading,

- Jake

Your graphics look really nice! However, the trunks on the tree seem as though they have legs, and end abruptly into the ground rather than having a transition. Also, your larger tree is just a scaled version of the smaller one, but I'll assume it's a place holder.

Good luck with your project!

Thanks a lot! Yes, the tree in the middle was a placeholder, it was a lazy resize just to give the player something to stand against in the mock-up haha. I will definitely fix the tree trunks to blend intro the grass more, maybe some blades of grass overlapping the trunk. As for the looks of "legs" would you suggest not using two roots? And just going with a basic single trunk? I plan on doing tree variations so I'll have different trunks and tree shades/shapes regardless.

Thanks again!

lol. Thanks man, retro is definitely my goal for this project! I will get to work on editing the tree trunks today.

> If you ever decide to use BASIC, give me a shout :)

Don't know much about BASIC but if you can show me what it can do, I'll add it to my consideration list.  ;)

Here are some idle animations for the two grunt enemies above. One goal of this project is to have a lively animated world. Won't show too much more until the project is final, so enjoy your teasers.  :P

> That looks pretty cool, gives off a nice Zelda-yet-not-Zelda vibe.

Haha sounds like a good place to be, thanks!

> Wow this looks pretty nice and graphics are really nice. :D

Thanks man, took me a while to finally create a style that was my own, and that I would love working with.  :D

*Bump* Yes, I know I'm double posting.

I need some slight input on the base walk animation. Should his arms be outlined lighter within the body (first), or darker like the shade around it's body? (second)

Very slight, nitpicky change but I'm kind of a perfectionist. My strength & weakness lol

Thanks,

I personally find the second one looks more consistent. While brightening of outlines in reference to a light source can make certain pieces look nicer, I don't find it does in this case.
