Valon328
wait wait I think this still works right? Theres only like 9 types of things I need others to upload, and I got the FTP stuff all wrapped up but I still have one question, how will the newversion.txt be changed? Like after it is> client.exe> 2Wouldn't it end forever there because its in the clients folder??
Marsh
No it will download it from online and update it
Valon328
@Marsh:> No it will download it from online and update itlike would the number "2" be stuck forever when its on someone elses computer? cause if I send this to someone elses computer and if it stays on 2 forever in their newversion.txt it wont update D:
Marsh
No, i dont think you understand. It will download a NEW FILE, new! off the internet… a new file. It will take some data from the internet, then it will download a new newversion.txt and replace the one that used to be there.
Valon328
yes but I dont think you understand my point too XD if my newversion is on "2" right now and on the internet its "3" and downloaded teh new newversion, it will be "3", but wouldnt that keep downloading to 4 and 5 or just stay on 3??? xeross
It will stay at 3 because the internet version is also 3.

Valon328
wait what? this is getting really confusing, do you mean that all I have to do is to keep uploading the newversion to my ftp and I'm done??
Ruins of Hell
You put in the URL and it downloads it automatically. Then the newversion.txt changes.
Valon328
so ok, now if I change something in my FTP, the updater automatically auto updates from the ftp? really? its that cool?? like all I ahve to do is to change my items.bmp (for e.g) and then on someone else' computer it will just automatically say its updating? If so that is soooo freakin cool

When you change the newversion.txt in your ftp it will download that see its new and download the file that was updated…

Valon328
oh okay…so I put newversion in my servers folder or just the clients folder, wait wiatso basically all I have to do is change the newversion.txt in my newversion.txt and the other's newversion.txt automatically changes to the one I have? Marsh
It proberly just doesnt work then, it seemed fine for me though i didnt do much testing. The source is availible for anyone who wants to test it out. I will not be finding the problem or bothering to update. I have another project that is taking up my coding time. shadowwulf
The original version works great for less than 25 files.I tested it multiple times. The one for more files might be ducked… so those that really want more files need to either work on a fix or look elsewhere. minipimp
Okay nvm , it works 100% i just forgot to uplaod the newversion file with 2 into it instead of 1\. :P easy.
