I'm currently working on a vb6 Game, my current game is vb6, but now i found out that windows 9 is not going to be abel to play vb6 games, so i don't feel like their any point making this game in vb6 anymore,

SO my main point is, does anyone know an open source engine? but like an engine that's decent not like a java engine that only has map eddiore :/ like a engine that atlest has the basics.

THanks a lot i will be greatfull if anyone can help :)

Don't let anyone fool you, VB6 was also going to be dropped in Vista, 7, and 8 lolz

They may try to make it harder to install the IDE (the programming application) again in order to encourage moving away from it, but the vb6 runtime (what is needed to run the engine) will be in windows 9 no doubt which means the engine still has 3-4 years of life (minimum) in it but by that time V will already be out lol.

You won't see them drop support for VB6 programs for a very long time. While it's antiquated at this point, to many enterprise level applications and businesses utilizing applications built with it. You'll definitely see some sort of backwards compatibility to support running older applications, even if it uses a built in emulation method like the current Windows On Windows.

You needn't worry! Keep on trucking and learning!

If / when there is a vb.net engine available you shouldnt worry about ever losing support with it. C# is Microsofts baby, it will be alive as long as microsoft is, and even though they may not use it, alot of C# developers that keep the language alive with microsoft support the existance and portability of vb.net as well so it will last right along side :)
