Krazykevin
Ok, so I started to run the server. I open up my client and put in my IP. Upon connecting, I get RTE9\. I've installed ELI and everything. What do I do?
Homicidal Monkey
RTE 9 = Out Of MemoryVB6 can only use 256mb of ram for w/e reason. Confirm that you didnt exceed that ridiculous limit.
Krazykevin
So, there's nothing I can do?
Jed
Well you could do something, close some programs, end some processes and free up memory until you have enough to run the server.
Patrick
Get more memory and plug into your computer.
Admiral Refuge
You may want to look into this topic: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,12254.0.htmlScroll down until you see "Run-Time Error: 9 - Subscript out of range", and it should provide differnet solutions to the error. Krazykevin
None of those apply to my situation.Btw, it's Subscript out of range, not Out of memory.
Owen F
Often this is a fault in your Main.txt it happens many times.Have you added any scripts? Check everything is fine about data.ini and config.ini etc.
Admiral Refuge
Runtime Error 9 usually happens when you change one of the vital files of the engine and it does not know how to react. Have to modified the Data.ini, or more importantly, have you modified the sizes of your maps, recently? What did you change right before this happened? Krazykevin
Ok, I simply copied the entire server folder from my friend, along with the client. They seem to be working for him, but since I can't connect (see my Bugs and Errors topic), I was trying to see all the maps and stuff remotely. The only thing I changed was the IP number in my client to my IP.

Krazykevin
Well, yes, aside from the previous error.

Admiral Refuge
Okay, have you ever made any source edits to your client?
Krazykevin
No, I haven't. None of us have VB6 yet, so we haven't messed around with the source.
Admiral Refuge
@Krazykevin:> No, I haven't. None of us have VB6 yet, so we haven't messed around with the source. You're using EE2.8, right?Go grab a fresh copy of EE2.8, and run the client (make sure you change the IP); just to make sure it works. If it does, copy your GFX folder into the new one, replacing the new one's gfx folder with yours. If you don't get an error when running it again, do the same with the GUI, BGS, etc, until all the folders are copied; whichever folder gives the error when you attempt to copy it, will most likely have the issue. Krazykevin
I'm using 2.7, and even with a fresh copy, I get RTE9.
Godlord
Well RTE 9 occurs when it is trying to access a non-existing element in an array. Check the data.ini and config.ini and be sure to check if you've all files.btw. try to use EE 2.8.Regards, Godlord.
Krazykevin
I tried a fresh 2.8 as well, and no luck. Also, you forgot to update your site, when you click on Eclipse 2.8, and download a file, it still gets 2.7\. I had to put the URL manually to download it. Questwizard
Still getting the ame error here as well. See this as well: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,49574.0.html . Its really starting to drive me nuts. Every version I try has this problem (I've now tried 2.7 and 2.6 as well), and I've pinpointed the most likely causes to be the news retrieval or server status check upon starting the client. I tried on XP SP2, and just tried SP3 to see if that worked, and still no luck. Its crash heaven every single time as long as the server is up. Krazykevin
I tried running the source to debug this error, and the client hits this string of code in modHandleData:``` GAME_NAME = Trim$(parse(1))```I don't really know much about coding, so can someone tell me what this means?
