The top is cut off because they just keep going and going. The top half is where the Guardians live.

I think. ;)

Ignore the grass, by the way. I'm still trying to make it look non-repetative…

The roots needs to differ. some spread out then go into the ground.
And it needs to be less. pixeled. and…bland. it doesnt repeat, but its just..practically no detail. its boring all the same color with little shade.

And the top gets darker. Unless thats where the branches and leaves start, it probably shouldnt get darker.

Uhh…is the tree finish?

What's your game about? Cause the tree doesn't have leaves and it's sooo big.
Is it the beginning of the world or the end?
And I don't know if it's the JPG but it doesn't look like a Pixel Art to me.

I never said it Pixel "Art", but I have made it all from scratch.

It used to be a brown shape, with rough black outlining. I had to zoom right in on the edges and smooth out the pixels on the edging, then using a texture filter, the burn and dodge for the lighting. :)

The trees are huge because the Guardians live ontop of them. Or in them. Or, something. I'm still working on that part ;)

Azkanan if you plan on using them I suggest making at least 3 variations of it… and working on it a little bit more - more detail (especialy in the roots area) it neads (as master Yoda would say). Also you might find the idea I had with trees before - guess it would fit your idea of big trees.

You can't really see it (rare to find an in-game shot, and Windows 7's Print Screen is fecked) but the characters are outlined in black very definitively. But the backgrounds arent, so.
