TES IV: Oblivion

Well I love Oblivion. I used to mod it a little bit and think I'll get back into it soon, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in partnering up.

But, problem is, Oblivion crashes ALL THE TIME for me  :icon_crap:. I've tried lowering gfx settings, reinstalling, reading forums, EVERYTHING. I'm running WinXP and I really have no idea what to do to fix this, it crashes randomly whenever I play, with no warning and at random intervals.

Any solutions?

PS: didn't know where to put this :\

Yeah I do, you really should if you're smart, regardless of whether u crash or not.

Yeah the main quest gets annoying, especially when i'm enjoying the wilderness then everything gets red and scamps are everywhere. (Like near the Inn of Ill Omen).

unfortunately, Bethesda's engine that they used for both Oblivion and later Fallout is quite unstable. The only advice I can give is make tapping quicksave a reflex.
Beyond that, the easy way to close oblivion gates is just to learn a simple invisibility spell sold at your local Dark Brotherhood branch!

Are you using a lot of mods? If so, download [this](http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516) to get them in the correct order, which will stop a lot of mod related chrashes, and download [this](http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22282) for all other crashes. Since I started using these 2 mods, my game has crashed a LOT less. You will need [OBSE](http://obse.silverlock.org/) for it to work (But if you have a lot of mods then you prolly already have OBSE).

yeah i had a shitload of crashes when trying mods. Robin suggested i use B.O.S.S

Robin also told me all the cool mods, like OOO and oblivionXP

without oblivionXP, the game is pretty much stupid

also, theres a mod that prevents many known crashes

I did a very clean install before Christmas. It means loading the game after each mod installed, checking all mod compatibilities with TESView, possibly creating merged mods to handle similar ID points…

Ended up spending a hell of a lot more time installing stuff than I did playing. xD
