Archfire5
5,000 is a lot. Sounds like something you'd want to get if you were going to make a large commercial game.

Archfire5
@NGHS:> Do you want to succeed in creating a commercial game?I'd be happy with a member base of 100\. Actually, I'd be ecstatic. So instead of spending $5,000 which i don't have, I'll stick with Eclipse.

Scythe
the thing with eclipse is unless you can source edit well then all of the games are the same i mean go look at the successful ones on the forum. on all of them the inner workings have been modified and they have prospered. pretty much the only eclipse downside game wise tho XD
Godlord
@Archfire5:> 5,000 is a lot. Sounds like something you'd want to get if you were going to make a large commercial game.Eh, no. Unless you get access to the source code that engine isn't simply suitable for a commercial game. And that basically counts for every 2D/3D engine.Regards, Stephan. arundas
Actually writing your own game from scratch is better that buying an expensive engine like that even though that will take time it will not cost that much of a price to write then to buy that. ;) But, if you still want it to be Easier then get a free version of Dx Studio or buy the pro one or else buy Gamestudio A7\. Both are good. But you have to make your own models. DX Studio has some premade and can get most models free from there too, if your choice of model doesn't isn't there you can google some free ones :cheesy:. Trust me on that. :azn:Buuuut if you still want to buy spend $5,000 on it ;D
Draken
@NGHS:> Yeah, I said a commercial game your twat, learn to read.\> > And I doubt you will even reach 100 with eclipse.100 players on eclipse isnt that hard, coi 2d had almost that many, only it was in early alpha stages and was out for only 2-3 months. I think we ended up having around 85 players (not active at all the time but would get on and off about once a week or so)It all depends on your game. Also yea this engine is old :Palso best 3d engine imo is [City Scape](http://pixelactive3d.com/Products/CityScape/)if your looking to do a modern game, well its a mapping engine would still need to add networking to it.
