Socuine
Hello guys! This will be my first tutorial!_This tutorial is made by Socuine and is therefore, copyrighted by me._In this tutorial, I will explain how easy it is to achieve a realistic, tasy chrome style. After completing this tutorial, your end result will look like this:![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img1.jpg)**Let's begin!**Step 1:Make a new document, use 400 for width and 300 for height and hit OK.![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img2.jpg)Step 2:Fill your background with a blue/grey color. I used #A7B2B4.Step 3:Select the _Horizontal Type Tool_ by clicking it on the tool window or simply hit _T_. I used _Times New Roman_ for this tutorial simply because it's slim and elegant. Use the _Sharp_ anti-aliasing and put the size on _350pt_. Just use one character for this tutorial, I used the letter _S_, place it somewhere on your document.![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img3.jpg)Step 4:Alright, it's time to mess with some settings! Right click your text layer and hit _Blending Options_. Let's start with the Gradient. Use the image below to set the gradient.![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img4.jpg)![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img5.jpg)Step 5:Let's move to Satin. Enable Satin and use the following settings.![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img6.jpg)Step 6:Move over to Bevel and Emboss and use the following settings.![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img7.jpg)Step 7:Move to Inner Glow. Again, use the following settings.![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img8.jpg)Step 8:Move to Inner Shadow and use the following settings!![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img9.jpg)Step 9:Okay, we're almost there! Now click on Contour and apply the following.![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img10.jpg)Step 10:Okay, final step! Move to Drop Shadow and apply the following.![](http://www.burstingforce.com/user/socks/tutorials/chrome/chrome-tutorial-img11.jpg)That's it! You're done with your text. Looks pretty chromy huh? (If done right lol.) So know you can make an awesome realistic chrome effect in just 10 steps. Spread the word! Have fun.

slym
50% is a pretty harsh contour, I would recommend making that a bit lower. I think this would be more helpful as a tutorial if you had posted images of what the text actually looks like after each step. This would help the users on here who don't understand photoshop's blending options to better understand at least some of them. Oh also, the inner shadow may be a bit too large too. Just some crits though.
