The only old articles I wouldn't use from there are the ones that talk about libraries, compilers, and computer specs because those all have changed the most. All the information there is 100% valid, but some of the articles/ideas may have been 'done' already by other games, or perhaps don't fit with out modern beliefs/politics. Some of the main posts may be stupid in theory, but there's plenty of great ideas there. I don't think I've actually seen a retarded post in the Game Design board.
