sure if you don't release the graphics, the client wouldn't work. All other games release the graphics too, but they are compressed and "hidden".

This forum is not the place where you can learn how to use VB6\. If you need VB6 you should google for tutorials or check youtube for content.. Actually it's not hard because if you need to chance something in VB6, just open the client/server project in there, go to the file you want to edit. Change whatever you want and recompile it. Why do you want to Create Textures from Memory instead from files? If you do so, you actually need the pure binary data of the image file.. ie. from a stream. Make sure you point to the first element. i.e. array(0) > because an array of bytes (file data) simply is not working What exactly was in the array? I mean, did you load stuff from file in there?

Oh i quit those messaging systems a couple of years ago.. they make me sick.. The only thing i got left is skype, because of my job. If you don't have skype, we have to find another way to get in contact.

@jcsnide: Thank you. I'll try my best. @Harris: I know there's alot of programming language discussion in here.. and i really don't want to start and argument on there. The reason why i've choosen freepascal was that pascal (Delphi) was my first programming language.. This is the only language a really "know" all the other languages are just, well i know how to use them as tools but not how to get the best out of it. And the other thing is cross-platform.

I know from my job that those kind of teamworking does actually work. But however, i will check the changes that the second programmer is doing.. i just don't want to do it all by myself. I even would show what and how it is working in the server sources. That shoud not be the problem. But thanks for the thought, i'll keep it in mind.

Hello there, I'll make it short. I want to continue my engine and need some support. I hate client work so i need someone who knows the client and who want to improve it. So what's the whole thing about? It's about "german Eclipse". Uh don't be afraid of the language. Right now i'm implementing multi-language support. So german Eclipse is right written in two different languages.. The client is the "original" one (Origins), with some modifications. And the server is entirely reprogrammed in freepascal. Why? It runs on linux and on windows. Hosting is much cheaper with it. So what are the goals? Well i want to improve the engine to have more functionalitys and such things.. Right now i plan to tweak the combat system a little bit. Adding more spells and spelltypes. Adding a quest system and maybe more. But NOTHING on aready done work.. I don't want to create a copy / paste engine.. (very very bad idea imho) What do i get? Experience. And maybe more i don't know. Okay so if anyone is interested. Feel free to post. how does the greedy buffer know where to cut? if you have a long there and it's sorted XX 00 00 00, you would cut it down to a byte if you trunc where 0 begins. Or am I wrong?

If you buy a dedicated server, you don't need "no-ip" because a dedicated server HAS a fix ip. You just log in with remotedesktop and it looks exactly like a windows desktop.. Which shouldn't be a surprise. Once you started your server there, you can connect and play. You don't need anything to know. BUT You have to secure your server. which is a pain in the arse on windows.

AHH so there is already a programm which restarts the server on termination? Interesting.. And yeah, that's what he probably means.. the other thing is that this is redicioulus.. I wouldn't stay at a game, which restarts every 3 hours. So if your game is that instable, you should make it stable.
