To the autoupdating thing make it so in the server , when a player logs in it checks in every online player if the have the player who just joined as friend and if yes send the friends list.

Hmmm what I see is a lot of pillow shading and you didnt do the shading correctly cause it look like one of those cheap effects.Pixel Art isnt about effects or gradients.Also they look really flat.

To do alpha blending you would need to rewrite EO's graphics engine . But i believe that there is a API that can alpha blend a entire form.So if you can put the chatbox in this form and use the API the alphablend it would work.I think that there is a source tutorial on how to that around Eclipse

Road looks really flat and the transitions look too straight.
