  1. I updated my first chapter, working on chapter 2 later. :)
  2. > How much for a battle system like RPGs but clicking instead of using keys I am pretty flexible with pricing, but a premium price would be $50-75\. If you want a DX8 UI, it will be around $100.
  3. I tried it out, it seems okay. Not my type of app though.
  4. Bump. I will add more packages soon.
  5. I installed it not got time to try it out, but your website doesn't work good on big resolutions.
  6. I've said it many times. This is why I asked for a forum of my own. Check the topic.
  7. > I didn't even know American was a language O.o American English is like 99% the same as English standard. There's some slight differences such as adding ou instead of just o for color. Canada and England use the English standard.
  8. > After 12 years people finally get it. > > Ps. Mirage was an amazing game. I've known that since I was apart of XtremeWorlds almost 7 years ago. I was in MMO development for about 2 years before I realized that 2006-2008\. Eclipse was always trying to be an engine, XtremeWorlds/PlayerWorlds was trying to be a game.
  9. > Well, nothing on EW, but EVB is a refined EO 2.0\. It's the only "improved" base engine from EO 2.0 and that's a fact. We all know JC's event system is poorly coded, but it does make Eclipse a much better engine. I am a fan of it which is why it is found in my engine. I made this topic to try to be more open and make the engine better, even if I think it is already the best as the open-source suite. My engine is not meant to be an engine, it is meant to be a base for fans of Runescape type games. Although, as people said Eclipse engines are not really engines, they are bases to work with.
  10. How so? I could say Eclipse Origins 2.0 is better than 3.0 and EVB, due to the base being far superior. Sekaru's design is not as good as Robin.
  11. I want to know what people think of Eclipse Worlds now that I think most issues have been ironed out in 1.2.5\. I couldn't get a simple forum made, so I will just make topics about it.
  12. Are you using RGB colors? I believe my draw text function only supports Windows API colors aka VB constant colors. And hehe, sorry about changing all instances of colour to color, I am nuts about stuff like that. I am American English, so I wanted the engine to be American not English.
  13. Click the logo and will go to the forum index. [http://www.eclipseorigins.com/](http://www.eclipseorigins.com/) this goes to a broken page.

    Camera Zoom

The camera will stretch for you, all you need to do is change the minimum values usually MAX_MAPX and MAX_MAPY. You then change the surface size in InitDX8 to be a different size than the form to the ratio you want to scale. For example, if your form size is 1024x768, you want to set your game's resolution to half that in InitDX8\. By doing this, it will force the textures to 2x size making the game more zoomed in. I may have it backwards though. This is one of the harder aspects of programming, you're gonna have to work hard to figure it out. There's a lot of things that can cause it not to stretch the game such as if you use a picScreen and not the actual form, this may have side effects. I only use picScreen cause I would have to redo my engine's entire pictures from scratch and reorganize everything. Rather, I will just do it for 1.3.0. People aren't gonna code your game for you. :(
  15. > okay construct boi :P I'd rather program my own engine than use Unity. What are you talking about Construct boy? Unity just is not that well designed.
  16. > A place to sell tutorials and assets? You mean like the Unity store? > > Good grief. Unity sucks. I hate that engine. Unity is a generic engine, too. It doesn't really specialize in online games. Photon Cloud and such plugins enable it to do those things. Although, it is still a bloated engine.
  17. No, commercialization is great to have in a community as long as it isn't all that the community focuses on. Hobbyist communities never reach their full potential. We could make tutorials to help people make it, just like how Construct 2 does it for HTML5 games. You either sell an engine or sell plugins/resources. Not everything can be free guys, let's be real. If you are making a hobby-game, if it uses placeholder art who cares? If you want to make an actually good game, you're gonna have to fork over some cash or lots of time/dedication. The community could pay people to put free resources out, too. That's part of giving back to the community.
  18. No king can rule forever. Marshy dearest was like a noble king who never wanted anything back. Then we had Amish who wanted a lot back. Now we have a new king who is a mixture of the first two. Eclipse was always a hobbyist community, but things evolve and improve. Just cause we have a lot of people who start from nothing doesn't mean the community can't make money. Back when Marshy dearest was accepting donations, that technically was making money - it just was not-for-profit. When a community makes profits, it can go back to the developers and be invested back into the community. You just offer a free open-source engine and there's no problem. You make money other ways such as plugins and people submitting commercial usable resources in a download section. It's a good time to change it into a place where 2-D MMOs can really shine.
  19. > no offence, but are you ever going to make up your mind? Nope. :)

    > We all know why he didn't let you run it. But im not starting another flaming war. Because instead of people like me, he will allow Death the kid to be an admin. I am a very different type of person when I am given authority, but I don't even care. You guys can do whatever you want.

There just needs to be a refocus on an open-source engine, or at-least an emphasis on a scripting language so that members can work together on projects like they could in the past. That's why Eclipse is dying. It has always had a scripting or open-source engine which members could change freely and work together. Now, all they got is a bunch of 3rd party engines and no official open-source one. I asked Amish to let me run it, but he is pretty hard to convince and why I am done with this community. I can be a dick, but nothing lasts forever. A place to talk to your friends can be done anywhere. A place that can make 2-D MMOs is almost extinct. That's why I don't like Marsh's attitude or leadership in terms of just a place for his friends to chat around. It's pointless.

    > That's all a load of baloney. If you bought the site, you would NOT have to refund all the people who bought Gold… Heck even if you open-sourced EO4 Gold then you would STILL not have to give refunds. Yeah I don't have to do a lot of stuff, but that's called halfassing *. Companies do this all the time, it is basically scamming people out of their money. If Marsh buys the site, he is responsible to deal with these transactions, he likely will just puge the member group and be done with it, but that's why Eclipse will never go anywhere. It will be the same shithole it has always been.

Yes I understand, but you generally lose community trust. It's more important to establish a good sense of value in what people pay for on the site. You either offer good value or don't sell items on the site, period.
