    Storywriting

Hey Guys, For a long time I've been working on my storywriting, and I absolutely love it. I would like to write story for games. I am a very detailed writer, but I do not have really anything to show for it, and I'd like to begin my portfolio. I will not charge money or require you to credit me for story writing unless you want to. I just want to do it for the satisfaction because I really enjoy it, as long as it fits my writing style. Notes * I love writing fantasy-type things, I am very inspired by manga, and I kind of like to make my style sound a bit anime-ish. * I love writing about war. Not like Spartan war, more like magical wars, with lots of emotion and plot twists. * I write short things, I can't dedicate myself to one story for long, so making story lines for games is okay. * When writing for others I need a lot of detail, please don't just tell me to write something unless you want me to create your entire story line from scratch. Price: Free since I can't show you any work yet. Maybe if I can prove myself you can tip me :) Shoot me a message if you will let me write your story line. Thanks, Yuko :)
  3. Cookie Pack - 999999999999 Love Points A Cookie. I love it. I heard someone say a hug is worth $10, can I exchange? :3 Love ya SKY! Can't wait :D
  4. I never really said just fixing the website was going to fix the community, I also had another point of expansion. Anyways, my ideas started from expanding content, because if we offer more then we have a broader spectrum of things people can enjoy, which brings more people (most likely), it's not just the community, because the community would be based off of what we can provide, which is why I said not trying to fix it directly would be a good way to go. Adding more content and features would be a better call imo, but it's whatever you think. Also I don't mean content as in like a gallery, but more engines and tools people could use to get some people active and start discussion. Thats what a community needs. What we do in the future will work one way or another ;)
  5. @'Seb': > Could we bring back SOTW? I could run it. If you can get it running, I'd be happy. Since it's a dead forum I made you Mod of it since it could bring not harm, so clean it up if you need and start it up.
  6. @'RomeOnline': > I've been here through most of it all, and what I can honestly say is that Eclipse hasn't been the same for quite a while now, its really sad. Logging on everday to see what was new and todays topic and all the games that wanted to be made, it was awesome. The activity just isn't there anymore, and I think its honestly at a point where that won't change very much. However, Eclipse will always be a home for me, its part of my childhood, and I had lots of great memories with lots of people here that share them with me. Good shit, but I think its unfixable, the forums will never have that same MPH, atleast how I feel. Don't mean to put Eclipse down in any way, love it here. I agree, but don't give up on us yet. Getting new members in here like me and creator is going to help a lot. There will be a lot coming in the near future, it's not the community that needs changing, but the content we provide. So expanding our options will be helpful. I'm glad you love it here, so have I. I've been with Eclipse for a long while now and I won't let it be beat down so easily :)
  7. I really love the mapping, but at the same time I would like to see a little improvements to it cause it's definitely not perfect. I also like how you use event names to do the tutorial, a very smart idea that even I couldn't come up with (hope you don't mind if I take that for a future project) But all in all I LOVE IT :D Good luck and I hope to see more on this :) I love the name (what got my attention :P)
  8. There are few members that get a different page than just not being able to post/error page.
  9. I want to switch because this was done poorly. If we were to switch again we'll do it smartly and carefully and slowly. We wouldn't probably release the new switch for a good few weeks when we start on it. It's not about switching to what I or what others like best, it's about switching to something more reliable. MyBB can be reliable but there's more bugs than I can handle that I can't even find. The not being able to post thing is a problem not through permissions, at least I don't believe yet. If we are to switch the process will be in my hands and I will do the entire thing, I'd fit in all the plugins, etc. Then about a couple hours before, I'd shut down the site import data, and import everything. I have already considered this if we do switch. Right now, we shouldn't worry as even if we would, it'd be far from ready to do. It would take a couple weeks to do everything we want with the forums.
  10. Well it wasn't in my control since it happened before my interest in working for eclipse and I had no opinion on the switch, but I do now. I like Xenforo, however, I don't think it offers as much as IPB in terms of what Link wants from me and creator. It would be doable, but it would be no different than just staying in mybb.
  11. I am unfamiliar with Xenforo it'd take much more time for me to finish anything with is. SMF eh, I liked it but I haven't used it for so long. I don't know we'll see what the future has to offer
  12. I just paid $80 to beta test the new GW2 expansion. I think he should be able to freely make that decision :P
  13. The change was horrid. I can see why they needed to move being as it was Amish's IPB, or so I've been told, but going to MyBB was a poor decision. I tried to wrap my head around it when I first started as web developer, but IPB is just my home, I love it and I have a hard time liking other forum software. I mean this is more general than what you guys are discussing, but the forum switch was a mess up I agree. Should've been planned out a bit better.
  14. I hope I won't regret this, but I have took the innitiative to make this a 100% yes. If the other staff refuse to, then I'll do it alone. I have released a board in which community members may discuss things like this called "Community Discussion" under "Community" [Here](http://www.eclipseorigins.com/forum-145.html) A description of this board to help make it clear of the goal of this board: This is a place where you can go to to Suggest, give Feedback, and discuss things with the community to help make Eclipse Origins a better place for everyone. Let me know if there's anything I can do.
  15. @'BeNjO': > Patcher is still in the works, Until it is working I will not be releasing the game. Small bugs that could be game breaking would require a full download (1gb+). So in the mean time, Enjoy the new YouTube channel! Really cool, loving it so far.

    Rules

@'Baron: > Can we also have a rule that if a post is older than 6 months, or whatever the necropost is timed, then an admin/mod has to approve the post before it is accepted, that way you don't have random necroposting everywhere and you only have relevant questions that might be answered. I don't like this idea, sorry. However it can be a problem, some people should actually be encouraged to bring a topic to the top if need be, instead of creating a whole new topic. For example, if someone has already posted an Eclipse Worlds Tutorial, then we don't need 50 similar tutorial posts, rather bringing them back up and helping others find them. I think just dealing with people who bring old posts back for no reason can be dealt with manually than having to do moderation like that. I'm not an Admin so idk. – With the entire shoutbox asking thing...we have taken into notice that quite a few of these members are most likely trolls or old members trying to troll and waste time. I believe we need a better structure than just letting people freely do what they want, because with holes in the rules like this, we're bound to see more trouble be stirred up. I'm not saying keep support out of the shoutbox, I am saying something like: If the current (active) session of members are not able to provide an answer, and have tried referring the member to a board, but they are still trying to ask the same question over and over again or trying to dig deeper, then they need to be disposed of. It's obvious they're 1) a troll, 2) an immature spammer that refuses to listen to the (active) shoutbox session. This is a dumb rule to consider and shouldn't need to be, but it's been happening every day I've been online so far and needs to be dealt with properly. I'm not an admin once again and i've promised to keep my moderation to a low, but it's getting a bit annoying.
  17. @'Hanoxx': > @'BeNjO': > > > Or post in the talent centre someone might be willing to host it for cheap ;) > > Thank you. If I'll get something for free or cheaper than normal, I'll be posting it here. I'll host for you if you would like first month is always free from me, and if you like how it runs I only make you pay $5 a month :)
  18. **Recruitment Post** Since this is a non-eclipse project, I will just post the Recruitment information in a reply. Cookie Collectors is different…in multiple ways from RT games, as it is more of a puzzle game to earn stats and compare. However, moderation and development is still required, and that is where the staff team will come in. Information about working for CC * It is completely voluntary, this project will have no funding and is being paid by me out of my pocket, so there's no way I can pay a staff team. * Staff get a [GM] tag in front of their name anywhere they chat, post, or are listed on the game/website. * Staff get a second profile separate from their normal profile to explain their job, what they do, and a staff biography if you wish. Instead of /@Name their staff profile will be /$Name, however they will still have their regular profile for their own personal gaming if they wish to play. (There would be no way for staff to get any advantage). * All staff will be able to moderate, however specific moderators will be chosen for the forums and wiki. * Staff may participate in the cookie championship to earn prizes as they wish, as they are not able to get any advantage. Positions: * 1-2 General Moderators (Basically a global moderator - Game, Wiki, and Forum) * 1 Community Manager (Manage the community, moderators, and host events) * 1-2 Forum Moderators (Moderate the forums - now they are custom forums - so you are not technically qualified if you say you've moderated a specific forum, we may have similar features - but they will not be the same) * 1-2 Wiki Moderators & Writers (Write and moderate the Wiki, as there will be a commenting section) * 1 Asst. Game Manager (Basically assisting Yuko manage the game) Apply by contacting me on here, please send whatever you can to show you are decently qualified for the position. This is a web-based game if you have not read the post yet.
  19. Hello Everyone, A while back, I wanted to start a project of mine. I didn't know much coding for Eclipse Origins, but I did know web development. So I decided to start "Cookie Collectors", a name which isn't for sure yet, but something I could make fast for a placeholder for the title. It will most likely change to something more unique. Now I've been brought up that this sounds like some cookie game similar to it, I have never played this so I did not get any idea from it, and I have not made the attempt to research it to keep it that way. Cookie Collectors is a web based game that will also be easily playable on mobile. **Objective** >! The main objective is to collect cookies through completing puzzles, equations, and reacting quickly through cookie mania. Or play the official game mode which is a huge puzzle followed by a trivia story line. Once you finish this this game mode will be unavailable (it is kind of like the story mode). >! As you collect cookies you gain ranks, which stay - even if you lose cookies, which happens by either buying profile skins or you lose cookies on the 1st of every month. >! Each person from at the top of each rank will win a prize at the end of the month (on the 30th), a very cool prize depending on your rank division. Below is a list of each rank minimum requirement. If you have the highest amount of cookies in that rank at the end of the month, you will earn the prize listed. >! The maximum cookie collection is 100,000 until it is literally surpassed. Once it is surpassed a new prize will be added and the person to surpass 100,000 will get to have a say in the next rank's name. >! * **Newbie (0-999) -** Prize: None * **Recruit (1,000-4,999) -** Prize: Exclusive Profile Skin * **Cookie Dough (5,000-9,999) -** Prize: Name Skin * **Hot Cookies (10,000-24,999) -** Prize: Platinum Icon * **Cookie Hero (25,000-49,999) -** Prize: Exclusive Community Global Skin * **Cookie King (50,000-74,999) -** Prize: Community Sorcerer Power (For 1 Month) * **Cookie Crumbs (75,000-100,000) -** Prize: $10 Gift Card-$25 Gift Card **Images** >! These images are not set, it is only set for testing, and any edits will be made during testing. It was just a simple format I could put together for now. >! Game Menu ![](http://i.imgur.com/cMz49oX.jpg) >! Profiles (So far), don't know how much will be added to them ![](http://i.imgur.com/EPwbDmy.png) >! Very Basic outline for the Wiki ![](http://i.imgur.com/wx3kCLn.jpg) That's all for now, Yuko
  20. You could never really get a VPS for free, if you could it'd be very crappy. Your only real choice is to host yourself for free or pay for a VPS. A good one would be around $20 for a basic server, like maybe 8GB RAM…Idk been a while since I've bought one.
  21. This is really cool I hope you do.
  22. ![](http://www.gameinformer.com/resized-image.ashx/__size/610x0/__key/CommunityServer-Discussions-Components-Files/14492/1070.threadmv.jpg) You need to portforward. If you don't know how to do that, google it. If you don't know how to do that, we're doomed. Let me know if you need any help when you get to step 2 :) (moved to Q&A :P)
  23. I don't know how sorry, I was just helping make the words correct so someone else who cant help you understands.
  24. I think the more appropriate word you're looking for is a one-player instance map or dungeon. Not sure.
  25. I like Pawn Stars just because I really like history. It's a really good and funny show :)
