open it in paint and save it as a 24-bit bitmap. That may help it, I had the same error and found out it was a 256 color bitmap.

OK, so before I make my MMO, I thought I should test my skills by making a single player RPG. Now, as I'm thinking things up, I realized how am I gonna make the resources for my game, like the maps. Should I make an editor or can I do some programming to make them.
