  1. Well, I'd be willing to do some of the sound work, im not too bad at writing music depending on what your aims are and what programs you want me using. Here is a sample of my only song so far, it's not the best but i don't have the best program for creating it either, if you want me and want better quality I can look up some better programs and learn to use them, so far i have been writing sheet music. 2. Well, I like all of what i see so far. Though, I do have one question, have you been looking up ancient Nord mythology? Because if not then you have some very amusing names that are from it lol. But as for the panning, it is a little difficult to incorporate 3D into a top down game, I would recommend looking into perspective heavily so that you can get an idea of how you can set your game to render the graphics, EX. - like if you are lazy, i for one am, and you just want to make a simple tileset or don't want to have to burden your artists with making 10 different types of images for one tile, then have your game render and bend the tiles so that they look more 3D according to perspective, and no, this is not something that I can code, sorry, but I heavily suggest looking in to it, it will improve this a lot i think, but you first have to look int perspective, a lot lol. Wish you a lot of luck, and I think I'll look at this if I get around to playing it. Godspeed
  3. If I were you, I would add some celtic inlay; say a vine pattern or a shape pattern, I'd just say look some celtic patterns up and see what you like, if any that is. But I think you may like the idea of putting a pattern of some kind in the background.
  4. > If a 2D game is done right, it's great. If a 3D game is done badly, it's crap. Who's to say whether or not a 2D engine is worse than a 3D engine? It's also easier for the overall users, who still struggle with drawing their own_2D sprites in MS Paint_, to develop their own content in their game than in a 3D engine. Lastly, if you plan on making a 3D engine from scratch, why would you even consider using the deprecated language that is VB6? Matchoo is right actually, when is the last time you tried making a 3D spirit and getting it to flex and move? To some people it is a challenge, even fun but still a challenge, not think of those who are new to it, it is HORRIBLE, it makes 2D look a whole lot nicer and comforting. I know how much work is involved in just making one spirit because i have tried, I wouldn't say to throw everyone into that, if Eclipse did become a 3D MMORPG, I'd say it'd better keep its 2D also. There is way too much work in making a 3D MMORPG that you haven't even considered.
  5. I like the idea, sure, but you can probably look at it this way, Eclipse is a 2D MMORPG engine, and you have seen how many problems are in it, now you are wanting to make it into 3D? Just think about all the problems with that, I like Eclipse because it's a nice little program but it I do agree that it could be interesting to make a 3D version as well, just not only.
  6. dang, ill do this because everyone missed it!!! 4 Now, proceed with the current number
  7. Well, are their any languages that are best/better for programming?
  8. Now, if you really want to be dumb, you could learn a language like VISUAL then go and try to make your own, but I haven't really seen that style ever work and most people just give up. I'd just go and reread these posts then go and google a few of the languages that might be what you are looking for. Also, can anyone here direct me towards a language that would be great for creating a game engine like Eclipse so I can try to make my own game with fewer errors and more options? P.S. I'm not a complete novice, I have used Java, HTML, Batch, and a few others but not a lot in them, I'm best with Batch. Any direction would be nice.
  9. Ok, there are many ways around these glitches, this is how I have been doing all of my "crafting" and such only because if I try to change the source files, it doesn't do anything. I have made an alright system doing this that you really can't screw up so this is a viable way of "crafting and other such, but Doctor, I think that you are planning on a widely played game, otherwise events shouldn't do that much.
  10. Here's some help, I learned from looking at it and messing with code and that's not a great way to do it, but here; [http://www.codecademy.com/tracks](http://www.codecademy.com/tracks)
  11. Now, there are a few reasons that you could ban an account that you thought was a banned player but wasn't, like a family member. Hence I asked.
  12. Make multiple accounts. Banning of secondary account or both Do not make multiple accounts. At Eclipse we offer free name changes. Evading a ban by creating a new account will result in your temporary ban becoming permanent. If you have siblings or others who use Eclipse in your house its best to shoot a pm to a staff member. Or if you simply want a fresh account let us know beforehand. Ok, how are you going to tell if someone makes a new account, are you going to regulate emails, passwords, IP adresses, what? there is no "best" way of doing it
  13. Delete the maps in the sever that are being used then copy a blank one and relabel the numbers/names, I think that's all that is required. Also, do it with the event data, and make ABSOLUTE sure that the names are right. If you know how, I'd recommend writing a batch file to rename them.
  14. Hey, I would love to help you out, im not a great artist or coder, but I can give you a lot of feed back on what will and wont work and how to put it together.
