  1. Looks pretty decent. Keep on going at it. Little projects like this definitely help to build up your skill.
  2. > It can be defined, recognized and discussed. You just defeated your own argument within the second sentence of your long, unintelligible rant. For one, Art is entirely subjective, and I can't stand the pretentious, artsy types that act as though they're able to define an absolute standard for art as if they're formulating mathematical laws. Art is something that is observed and liked or disliked entirely within the human mind. It isn't a physical quantity that we can judge based on fundamental principles inherent to our Universe. I can't formulate a universal law that dictates what makes good art and what doesn't – this same concept applies to morals, which are also subjective. With that said, you can recommend that Murdoc follow an art style that would better appeal to the masses, and you can even set criteria that he must meet in order to become an artist by your standards, but you cannot form or impose a universal standard that he must meet in order to become a "true artist." Due to your pretentious attitude and the level of elitism that you display -- at least some of the other elitists in this community offer constructive advice every once in awhile -- I would recommend that you find an environment better suited for people like yourself.
  3. > You described everything that is wrong with small communities on the internet in one post, by using the exact same logic that stants behind newfag / oldfag differenciations on 4chan. > > And the idea you expect praise for it is rather entertaining. > > > > Lumiere, please don't give me "true artist" speaches, because a true artist wouldn't limit his potential by picking the worst possible tool to do what he calls his passion and then tell everyone around how much of an educated choice it was. The fact that you're into digital for 16 years and you paint with a mouse is not something you should addmit in public. [This girl](http://loish.net/) started doing digital painting around 2006, Marek Okon submited his first drawing on Deviantart in 2004, this is the [drawing he submited](http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs5/i/2004/291/3/4/Sarah_25_by_OmeN2501.jpg) and this is [his portfolio now](http://www.okonart.com/#portfolio&illustrations&83), and yes, you saw his works before because he's one of the leading professionals in the industry. > > > > Those are artists, you are using a mouse. > > I didn't came here with intent of starting arguments or making anyone uncomfortable, but please, reconsider how close-minded you come out as. > > > > As for the second picture, you're getting the hang of colors this time, generally the less flashy brushes you use the better (that grass in your first one, never again), also, dodge and burn is a pretty basic and actually bad way of working with colors. Best practice is to actually pick a darker color and play around with brush flow and opacity sliders, that way colors act like you're actually painting with them, not applying cheap effects. All those tools like smudge, burn and dodge are there for people editing photos, you don't paint with those. Art is subjective; therefore, the criteria that must be met to be considered a "true artist" is as well.

    BASS Sound Engine

I honestly don't think Amish will care: [https://github.com/IndieRising/EVB/blob/master/client/src/modBass.bas](https://github.com/IndieRising/EVB/blob/master/client/src/modBass.bas) Just copy the code from that webpage, and you should be good to go.

    > wait… why is he banned? does anyone have the files? i know this post is like 6 years older than dirt, but i'd sell my soul for those files.... Many of the people around here happen to be intimidated by Sekaru's genius.
  6. Your thread is decently put together, and you seem to have a bit of experience under your belt, so I'll go ahead and vouch for you. Good luck, man. There aren't nearly as many people using VB6 engines as there used to be, but I'm sure you'll be able to find a bit of work. Edit: Grammar 0_0
  7. Thank you for the information. :)

  13. It looks like the zombies are pointing their index finger at the survivor, which sort of ruins the mood of the entire scene.
  14. > Just because it's possible to steal art, doesn't mean you make it easy. > > Most of the people who would steal your art, couldn't make a game even if they wanted to. > > You make it hard as an assurance to your artists that their work will not be released into the public domain the moment you release the game. > > Imagine you're a programmer and the moment you release the first alpha of your brand new game, some guy takes your source code and makes another game project stemming from your code. And by making it difficult, which has clearly been proven to be futile by the attempts of many large AAA developers, you usually hinder the user's experience. I believe that you defeated your own argument in your second sentence; as I've stated before, any person that must resort to stealing art either wants something to use as a placeholder or is all-round incompetent and not a threat to your production. The same goes with programming; the most we can ever do is obfuscate the code if it's an interpreted language; if it's a compiled language, we can only hope that the person doesn't take the time to study the machine code in order to make a replication. Any artist that needs assurance that their work will not be released into the public domain needs to learn about licensing, and any artist that needs assurance that their work will not be leaked or used illegally needs a mental institution.
  15. > Hey, we're just giving him suggestions, I couldn't care less if someone uses graphics, means they were good ones, I'd rather be asked but seeing how much stuff I "buy", I'm not one to hold an opinion, I'm just telling him how he can set this up, and making Prnt Scrn clear the clip board is just cruel. If you can make it so that the client is blocked out when it is pressed then that would be best. Why go to such great lengths to protect the graphics? I mean, isn't it a sign of success to have others use your work, even if they do not have the rightful permission to do so? I don't believe having your graphics stolen would in any way, shape, or form damage the success of your title; I mean, could someone who cannot create graphical work of their own really compete with what your original product has to offer? Any attempt to secure digital work is futile. Software has already sustained enough damage from DRM employed by large corporations, and it truly saddens me that the indie community seems to be set on employing the same destructive tactics wherever possible. This is the stuff that makes people hate companies like Electronic Arts. Unfortunately, unlike large corporations, independent developers do not have the vast resources to hide the scars caused by these sort of things. OP, do not waste your time on this. Accept that people may want to use your work, and shun those who do use your work without your permission; however, don't make others suffer. Don't allow the majority to suffer due to the actions of a few bad apples.
  16. You guys are no better than companies like EA that put users through hell in order to protect their assets. I mean, blocking print screen! Are you kidding me??? I despise you. inb4warning

    Closed source

It's actually quite impossible to hide the source of your applications from _everyone._ Of course, with something like Eclipse, just withholding the source files to your game will satisfy.

  20. It's too bad that funds are required to transfer realms. If you guys want, you can add my Battle Tag: QuirkyOrc#13901.
  21. Do any of you guys play, and if not, would any of you be interested in trying it out? I'm in a rather nice guild at the moment, so I'm looking to help them out by expanding their member base.
