    Taurus - Orchestra

Finished this yesterday. Thought I'd post it here for feedback. Strongly considering re-working this and arranging it better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbudAD9B2lc The logo took me 5 minutes. So if you don't like it… suck it up xD

    New stuff!

Haha thanks! I actually did look at the Fire Emblem animations as a reference, but most of the movements in the animation are original (Shaking while arrow is pulled all the way back, back fire after shooting, the way the bow is picked up, the lunge, and the movement in the upper body as it moves towards the viewer). Nah Eden was dropped a long time ago. Currently I'm working on a commission for a strategy game for the Android tablet/smartphone.

    Snow Item

Ends in september?! Don't you think that's a bit long for a competition like this? [edit] 32x32 restrictions… that would make me suspicious :P
  5. This is actually #8637 because the starting post is reply #0.

    Some stuff :P

@Roxanna: > Good God >.> I couldn't focus on one thing that long unless I'm have so much enthusiasm on it. Especially if it's just one piece. xD Haha, luckily for me it isn't even halfway done. It will take at least another 40 - 45 hours to finish. It's a different zone of thinking for me. When I'm working on something huge, I just focus on the tiny details. The best place to start is with the smallest and most articulate detail, because when you have precise detail in one place, everything else around it needs to match up to those standards. It's that thinking that keeps me able to work on a piece for long hours.

    Some stuff :P

@Roxanna: > o.o; Such large scale work; How long does it normally take you? Haha a long time. I've spent over 40 hours on the forest so far. @7: > *cough*lookingtojoinanyprojects?*cough* Thanks! Sorry, but yeah I'm busy way over my head.
  8. 50% is a pretty harsh contour, I would recommend making that a bit lower. I think this would be more helpful as a tutorial if you had posted images of what the text actually looks like after each step. This would help the users on here who don't understand photoshop's blending options to better understand at least some of them. Oh also, the inner shadow may be a bit too large too. Just some crits though.

    Some stuff :P

@Roxanna: Thanks :D @Kemerd: Haha I would consider, but currently Spriter's Resource is looking for my head. An SR is a direct rival to my native pixel art website (Pixel Joint). This is what I'm working on right now: ![](http://dev.linkpagecentral.com/images/projects/works/mockup1A.png) Current WIP. It's an iPhone game with no programmer basically.
  10. Or you could start to learn photoshop, it's a great program to know how to use :P
  11. Pixel art is an art form that must meet at least two requirements: 1\. There must be no automatic fixing of any sort, all work must be created by hand by the artist. 2\. Must be under 256 colors. This isn't pixel art, but it is still very nice :D
  12. The ui should always reflect the style or tone of the game. But if you can't make an old-style looking gui, then I would recommend at least changing that cyan blue to black.
  13. Try to avoid using an image like this as a background for a website. Backgrounds should be as simple as possible, focussing on what is important on a website is one way to ensure that your design is readable. I haven't seen your website yet, but with this background it could be hard to read. Nice job tiling a forest though :D
  14. I disagree with Strafe on that one. To me this gives a very good idea of how it will look. The biggest issue I see here is the size of it. When you are making a gui, the most important goal to achieve is giving the player the most amount of playing screen possible. Try to make your ui as small as it can, without making it hard to understand. If you could, I would make the quests expand/collapse. That is one heck of a dragon btw :D [edit] My apologies. I can't read! This is a very well planned out gui. I cannot wait to see what the finished version looks like. It's just about perfect in my opinion.

    Forest Boss

Try to clean him up a bit, avoid having any 1 pixel alone.

At least until I get back to my status that i had before :P I don't like being a 6 post newbie :P

    Some stuff :P

Ok so yeah it's been a while…. maybe a bit over a year since I posted on here. So here's some of my new pixel art that I've done since then. Yes it isn't much, but at least it's something :D ![](http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/full/bday12.gif) ![](http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/full/process_large.gif) ![](http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/full/ss.gif) ![](http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/full/amedetia_mockup.gif) ![](http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/full/avatar_colors__r1867197631.gif) ![](http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/full/china.gif)
  18. @мсичġġєт: > You sir, are spending too much time on your sprites. > > Anyway, he does look like he is eating something, his cheeks are pillowshaded. > > Try different tutorials, about shading etc. > > Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post. Sorry but 1:30 is not nearly enough time on a sprite :P Anyway, this is a major improvement from what you had before :D

    Some slym art.

@Opportune: > Jeff, lolwut? Slym mate nice to see your newest stuff, the website/port looks nice and I agree with ICT, I like the platform tiles. Are you back or just visiting for some comments? Back for good :) Probably won't be here everyday, but whenever I have time I'll visit. @Jeff: > Oh, nvm I retract the statement of him not being a great PIXEL artist. I was being dum and looking only at his first piece. In the Geometric slime, you have FAR too many different colors. I suggest u try to cut down on some of the colors, try to make it down to 5. Then it would be Much more in the spirit of pixel art :D Thanks for the suggestion but there are only 10 colors in it :P It would only be necessary to knock out colors if I didn't idolize every color I used. @Leaf: > link=topic=65947.msg710661#msg710661 date=1289260287] > You are alive! > > Nice work =] I like how you have a ruler for correct proportions. LSKDJF SLDHF VKLXCJ HVLKCJHV ZACHHHHHHHH!!!!! Oh my lord it's been a long time! Como estas amigo?

    Some slym art.

@Jeff: > Chief: he is newb with AA on maybe? also his non pixel pieces are okay… but they're still pretty bad :/ Plz teach me your ways.
  21. Yay the world of dithering! Chief said it all, dithering is completely dependent on your personal style or what effect you want to express to the viewers. There are no set styles that force dithering, hell there shouldn't even be set styles in the first place. An important thing to remember as an artist, is that creating your own style is an accomplishment, recreating another is… well a failure. Mainly due to the fact that whoever made the style you are recreating, will and always will be able to create any element of this style at a higher maturity and skill level than you would ever be able to do, since you didn't create the style in the first place. I hope that makes sense.

    Some slym art.

Thanks everyone! No seriously yall just made my day. I've been doing pretty poorly on my recent works, might have just motivated me to pixel more today.
