Top Down vs side scroller

Hey guys, I wanna build a game in 2d perspective, but I wanted to know what type of 2d game people want to play, so here is the question: What genre you like more, topdown or side scroller? :)
And if u could explain ur choises and ideias for me to implement :)

Alot of people would probably play a side scroller, to be honest. If you make the nice, cutesy appealing graphics, you could have a very successful 2D side scroller.

For old school RPGs with PvP and such, I find top-down more enjoyable.  For a more actiony-type RPG, side scrolling might be better (cough Maplestory cough)  I personally think side-scrolling is more enjoyable, but it also seems like you would need to edit the EO source quite a lot :P  Something entirely out of my scope.

I made a sidescroller without PVO, maplestory is a side scrolling platformer
If you take Dungeon Fighter Online u will see it's a side scroller too,not a platformer
