CUSTOM GUI Tutorial

Hey!
This is my first Tut so bear with me=)

first you need one of the greatest photo editor today
PAINT.NET!  (getpaint.net)
download it and use it.

ok where going to this mountain behind the main menu.gif



yes you can remove the dots but i did not.

then select the "magic wand" tool and click once on the gray area.


ok now press the delete button on your keyboard or cut or whatever get rid of the selection.


now go to Layers/add a new layer. now move that layer down and it should be below the mainmenu.gif

then paste the new image (that you want in the background) and resize it to fit the mainmenu.gif size


and there you go! it will be ALOT faster once you master the technique.

save it as a gif and you done!

When  i use the wand tool it selects everything except the text any ideas what i might be doing wrong????

You know you can do this in paint just as easily. If you're using Paint.net, I'd expect you to be making 10x better guis.

Make sure you're on the right layer and/or the magic wand isn't too strong.

Can the buttons inside the GUI be moved too? I dont really like its arrangement  :icon_crap:

Well, he could add how to make a good looking image to put there and what the size of the image could be.

in reality, people who dont have VB6 and cant edit the source would just replace the background .bmp/jpg image, without even needing to use photoshop.

People who do edit the source, well they would be designing it within the IDE
and this tutorial doesnt even start to broach that, so i assumed it was designed
for people who cant program or dont have VB6, and as i said wouldnt
you just replace the background image file ? anyhoo…

not really terrifying, well if I owned a Ferrari, yes that would be nasty.

I was outside hitting them with a golf club, one got me pretty good on the shoulder, have a nice bruise today.

it could work but you would have to remove some code because code says that for example read the pic in blabla and put it there and that overwrites the actual picture on the form.
