Bobbus
Plan out a game? Make a name, make a starter area map, enemies, story, all that good stuff.THEN begin to use Eclipse.
Robin
Learn VB6's syntax. Get to know the source. Look around a few tutorials, get some optimisations from Mirage Source's Optimisation Subforum then get to work on your game.
tylian
@Robin:> Mirage Source's Optimisation SubforumNo one will know what you mean by that robin./emoAnd, I think he shouldn't learn the coding aspect of it until he learns how to use it.Not all of us can do amazing things in just on day Robin ;D

Robin
Hardly. If you learn the programming side of the engine first you'll be able to understand the actual features and systems a _lot_ better.I'm not expecting him to learn it in one day. It takes a long time. It was at least one month before I even started to write my own code at all ;D
Kreator2
@Tylian:> No one will know what you mean by that robin.> /emoObviously he means a 'subforum' called optimization in Mirage Source's forum.@DrNova:> Yeah, that a bit over-reaching.If your serious about game development, most will do so to create a.. *ahem* Successful Game. DrNova
But as advice for first steps, its not very reasonable. If they wanted to learn coding, they probably would have started there, instead of looking for an engine to simplify things a little
