Lanphrost
I know it's more than likely wished for a hundred times before, but I'd love to see a built in updater, with a step by step tutorial on how to build an update. (Flame all you want, it's desperately needed for some people anyways XP )
7soccerbo7
I agree. :)There should be a built in updater.
Lanphrost
At least someone agrees
Eviltyphoon
I agree too. Players don't like to always redownload, and might leave if there is no updater.
Alster
An updater can be easily sourced - or you can download a separate one and configure it.However some people may not have the time (or be bothered) to do this. So I support this - mostly.
Lanphrost
Thanks for the support guys. And yes, it is easy (but when I tried to use several different updaters that weren't made for eclipse, they failed miserably… That's why I also asked for a complete tutorial.) munro
Triad patcher, or make one yourself its not that hard.
Lanphrost
Tried and failed method. Not to mention the topic stands, it would be more beneficial to have it hard coded into every copy of Eclipse
munro
How did you fail? Its pretty straightforward.
Lanphrost
When I put the update file into a direct hosting site it told me there was no update available, but this isn't really the place to discuss that ;D
munro
@Lanphrost:> When I put the update file into a direct hosting site it told me there was no update available, but this isn't really the place to discuss that ;DAh, well hopefully its added to 3.0\. If not, I might get around to making one.

The Oracle
maybe it will be in 3.1 or 3.2\. I don't think they can pack much more awesomeness into 3.0.
YunO
What about Neoncube? I figured out a way that it connects to the hoster instead of a website heh…
Lanphrost
Well before I go try another updater I'm gonna wait to reload my Visa and buy a spot with unlimited bandwidth/storage/etcI'm not gonna wait to see if this gets put into 3.0, because that would be silly (they've already done most of the work on it, I doubt they're gonna go back and start somewhere in the middle to include an updater)
Keebler Elf
I love the idea because i also tried to use a updater liek triad and neon cube and liek 10 more. None seemed to work even when i read tuts for them.
munro
Triad patcher's pretty easy. Complecated at first though.

Warconn
i have one implemented in 2.7 featured in New Colony Online, but i am having troubles with the client, it will not overright/delete the client because it is in use. I am still trying to find a way around that… once i do, i will release it to the public. Should be semi easiy to move to 3.
7soccerbo7
Just make the client separate from the updater.
Warconn
yea, but i run all my update list through the server, hard to add ot a seperate program

Lanphrost
@Ã…ÃÂüiÑÂôζ:> Total Eclipse use to have one; I remember it. It worked tooHehe, they took it out for some reason then
Admiral Refuge
Well, here's the original Total Eclipse… I'm getting error with the updater, so maybe that's why they took it out; idk...Anyway, "claz.mof" or w/e it's called (you'll see it) is the actual program (if you rename it to "claz.exe" or "eclipse.exe" and run it, you'll see what I mean)Maybe if they still have the source for the updater, it could be built off of, for 3.0http://www.mediafire.com/?ozm3rtygit4
