damian666
well… could i take the "old" TE version of those subs and replace them?as far as i know, that was done in ini format right?Damian666
Joyce
If they haven't changed the data fields you could… But re-writing it could be done more efficiently, the original EE way is rather laggy.
damian666
hmm… proberly to much for a noob like me i guess?Damian666
Joyce
Depends on how you define noob… It's a few simple If/End If things and some PutVar/GetVar crap. That's all there is to it.I'd show you an example, but it's getting late so I'm off to bed.
Admiral Refuge
Well, other then I think guilds, banks, and characters, everything always used dats (the items, maps, etc). You can still change anything you want to change regarding the character's player, even without editing the physical inis or dats (and it's good practice too, since it's more automated and probably better for the server).Besides, didn't Mellowz say that using inis cause more lag or something like that?Either way, couldn't you just change when it loads/saves the .dat, set it to an ini?e.g."\Accounts\" & Trim$(Player(Index).Login) & "\Char" & I & ".dat"instead be"\Accounts\" & Trim$(Player(Index).Login) & "\Char" & I & ".ini"Or something like that
Godlord
INIs are way slower than DAT-files, hence why EE mostly dropped them.Regards, Godlord.
damian666
hmm… that much slower huh...but it really bugs me i cant read the damn things XDi would be overjoyed if all would be ini... but i see the point :(Damian666

So you could either try searching for, requesting or programming them :P.Regards, Godlord.

Admiral Refuge
Ballie is already programming external editors for alot of the dat files (items, maps, etc); we use to have an external character editor, but it stopped working in EE2.
