Dark Crusade
**Update- Making new topic. See inside this board.**Alright, so from time to time I'm going to mess around with the Aurora Toolset to make a persistent world for Neverwinter Nights. I must say that my love for this game is still strong, and I still remember all aspects of the editor well, including mapping, item and npc design, and NW Script.I won't update the main topic, nor attempt to get any sort of sub board for this until I know that this will be a supported and planned project. So far it's mostly ideas and a bit of impulse. Although I will keep posting updates, however not updating main post.I've started working on a few basic scripts, such as trash cans where players can delete their items instead of littering them on the ground. Roleplay will be a major part of the persistent world, so players may be scorned by other players if they decide to drop a heap of useless stercus on the ground in the middle of a city, for example. The starting town for players will be a small harbor town called Elandor. The players will start inside a boat at the docks, and begin their adventure from there. Heres a few screenshots I took. I was testing a torch script, where lamposts only turn on at night.![](http://i38.tinypic.com/2ugpjmd.jpg)![](http://i36.tinypic.com/xd7zi9.jpg)![](http://i34.tinypic.com/334oimd.jpg)

Dark Crusade
Neverwinter Nights is one of my favourite games of all Time. Its up there with Zelda Ocarina of Time, and Perfect Dark. If you get the expansion packs, and then download the community expansion, the content and opportunies for players and designers is endless. death
This is not being made in Eclipse. It is using an existing games tool set. You can create your own moduals which others can play ONLINE and OFFLINE.

JayT
quick question man, do you have to pay for this? if so then im doomed to play DnD and this lol
Dark Crusade
It doesn't cost to play online. Just a one time fee to actually buy the game. However, since the game is a few good years old, you should be able to pick up a compiliation pack containing it and all expansion packs for under $20. Ruins of Hell
Unless you torrent it, you have to pay to get the Neverwinter Nights pack I think. The following error or errors occurred while posting this message:Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. Dark Crusade
Even if you do torrent it, I strongly doubt you will find a serial code to use online that nobody else is using, and that isn't banned.Alright, so I've done a basic prologue. The player begins asleep inside a cargo ship with nothing but rags. The player then stands up and is spoken to by a sailor. The sailor informs the player that they were found lost at sea, after a shipwreck which involved pirates besieging a ship. The sailor gives the player some basic context and useful information, and 50 gold coins. The player is then able to leave the ship and embark on their journey.I'll get some more screenshots of the town as I progress.Feedback is greatly sought
Ruins of Hell
How do they leave the ship? Is it marooned or what?Maybe make them start on a random island that they have to escape or something.

Dark Crusade
Heres some more screenshots of Elandor. These were taken during a normal sunny day. I've got patrolling guards, and strolling citizens, and started the Tavern. More information on that later. This fair harbor town has reasonable chances for rain and storms. I'm also still considering tweaking the ambient, diffuse and fog for the town.![](http://i33.tinypic.com/21ndv09.jpg)![](http://i35.tinypic.com/2mpmwx0.jpg)![](http://i33.tinypic.com/35n7evl.png)![](http://i37.tinypic.com/2nk5215.png)Ooh, sorry for bad quality. Seems tinypic resaved them as .jpg. Color seems screwed up too.

Dark Crusade
Alright, got a few areas done now. Heres a recap-**Elandor.** Small harbor town. Player starts on cargo ship, sailor on board explains that the player that they were found lost at sea, after a shipwreck which involved pirates besieging a ship. The sailor gives the player some basic context and useful information, and 50 gold coins. The player is then able to leave the ship and embark on their journey. The town only has a handful of buildings, overall its a scenic rural village, with plently of trees. Theres patrolling guards, and roaming citizens.**Rusty Bucket Tavern.** Small tavern with rooms available. Patrons are inside walking around, singing, holding drinks, and sitting down. You can purchase drinks from the bartender, you can get food from a cook, or you can rent a room, which transports you upstairs in a restable room, where you can regain your health, and spell charges.**Arms and Armor.** Basic blacksmithy and armoror. Here you can purchase cheap weapons, armor and shields. Being but a small town, there isn't too much to offer, but enough for a beginner.**Outfitter.** Here the player is able to purchase various garments of clothing, such as dresses, robes, and civilian wear. This is mostly for roleplay, these clothes do not give armor or other advantages.**Merchant Trader** Situated near the docks is also a trader, who sells basic but useful items.**Church.** Here is also a priest who will both resurrect you if you die, and offer healing. You can also purchase some potions and such. If you die, he can also transport you to the last spot you died, if your urgently need to return.Finishing up on a cave now, which will be linked to a very basic quest.
