Alatar
Well, this is an idea I've had for a few weeks. Is a project to improve and grow the foreign communities of Eclipse, to make it more "international" and expand it to a new barrier.First of all I've been thinking in translating the new [EO] (Eclipse Origins Engine) to another languages, with this tag: [NE?]. The "?" means the first letter of the language that it shall be translated (example: [NES] (Nexus Eclipse Spanish); [NEF] (Nexus Eclipse French); [NEG] (Nexus Eclipse German), etc.)After that, I think that publishing the engine and giving from this forum more visible links to the Language's Boards will be a good way to make it grow.I'm looking for opinions of everyone, particullar from the Language's Board's Moderator's and forum-members which don't have English as main language (as I do, by the way sorry for the english speach xD)
Godlord
That would be great, but please consider using the [ISO 639-1 codes](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-1_codes) for the languages, then.Regards, Stephan.
Helladen
I think it would be better just to make it use an external language file. Rather than translating it all manually.
Alatar
That would be even better, but how can I do that? Making .ini or .txt files will slow down the entire engine. The .dat files could do this?
Alatar
BUMP! I've started to use a .ini file to handle this, but I have a question: Is this a good way to do it or it's really going to slow the engine? If so, how can I do it in another way? lollicat
The alternate languages DO need more activity. Tbh, I'm not very fluent in Spanish, so I wish it could be more active so that I could study for Spanish finals while going on Eclipse. xD
Patrick
How about instead of [NEG] you could put [NE-G]?
Mellowz
Seems like a cool idea. But you'd definitely need an external message file. (
Helladen
You need to have it call a specific number for the message in a text file or something. This will require a lot of source editing. You will have to rewrite all the messages in all the languages you got and organize them into categories of numbers. That number will check the client and if the client is English then it will pick message 1 on category A for English. There is probably better methods of doing this though. Alatar
Thx to all, I'm starting to translate Eclipse Origins v1.1.0, using an external .ini file and only one function. Soon I will show more info ;D
Alatar
A few days later… xD(Client) I have almost all the forms added to the manage of the language files. I only need to work on the ingame form and the modules. ;DThis is helping me to understand and practice VB6.0 ^^
Sir Topham Hatt
I like this idea and it might even help me with my Spanish. : D I would help but I am not very good at Spanish though. Can't wait until it's release.P.S. your English is better than most Americans.
