Anna Comnena Posted December 30, 2010 Share Posted December 30, 2010 Iron Maiden is among my favorite musical groups of all time, mainly because of their mythologically and historical based songs.This is alright, but it's obviously newer stuff, and very retro-ish metal style. As far as more contemporary metal, I like "Viking Metal" and stuff like Ensiferum, I feel they are more the spiritual descendants of older metal. They take all the extremes of the 80s and make it fun and enjoyable. Every single track on the album is fantastic and they're incredible live.
