Trying to "Non-Anime" Sprite

*srsface* So I'm typically into spriting anime characters for previously made games, but now my team is working on a horror/action game which isn't anime-styled. So I had tried to create the main character non-anime-like.


This was the side view and style I had come up with.

This one shows a little of a creature charater I sprited, minus the back of the head, please (Its blurred there for a reason). The half-finished character was the main character first build, which I have edited as you can see.

So how is this for a non-anime sprite style?

I think it looks fine but at that level of detail animation is going to be very labor-intensive. Also his hand in the bottom image is wierd, is that a mitt with a nunchuck or something? Mainly hand position is the only thing you'd need to work on, but that's usually the most difficult part of figures in my opinion anyway.

Its a prosthetic fan weapon.

I was closely trying to get it to my husband's drawing as possible.

But we changed his design, though later in the game he will still don the prosthetic weapon.

He's supposed to be slightly psychotic. I mean, his soon-to-be-fiancee did get taken away by ghost worshipping cultists. :P I think Funeral might have wanted a more open mouth angry grimace expression, but that was a bit difficult to sprite, and IMO, too much like Wallace from NC.
