  1. After staring at the code for another hour and with some help here, I think I got the gist of it. Im going to just actually edit the NPC editor first through before I actually dive into making my own editor. Ill need to figure that out later when I add my prefix suffix system, which after looking at all this stuff, looks pretty easy to do now.
  2. So Ive come across a dilemma trying to create my own editor. I feel I have enough experience, learning how to handle and send packets as well as modify data and the likes from the various .bin files and the like, I wanted to make an editor for the rest of my devs so they could work in their own NPCs for my Turn Based Combat system. The problem? I have no idea HOW you populate the editor with information from the server. Im going through everything, I had assumed it might look something like While i < MAX_NPCS Npc(i).name = blah or something, but that search turned up no luck for me. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
  3. Number 6 is quite amazing, and gives me loads of good ideas for my own edge of desert / beach town. He gets my vote.
  4. Path of Exile and sadly League of Legends are the best way to go. Only cosmetics and convenience. By convenience I mean, extra bank space (Not to limit the player to an abysmally small size to begin with, but more of a luxury for those who dont want to mule everything they find), increased XP, SP, or other level components for an hour or day. Large HP/MP regeneration for PvE outside of instances. Skins or custom sprites for looks, and spell effects (If you consider yourself savvy enough to check each one for a cash shop change to morph it from one to another that is). Cosmetic pets, though Im highly against pets as is, as they just seem to cause problems from anyone. Custom in game avatar. Most importantly, cheaper in game functions. Offer a membership package that gives a small amount of CS currency, as well as cheaper bank upgrades, player house upgrades, player shop creation fees, etc etc. Maybe its monthly, or maybe you can buy it 5 times (Or pay 75% and only spend 35$ instead of say 10$) and you get the effects permanently. 10% exp boost for all party members is also a neat one. Its not going to ruin the game too much for free players, hell they might have a friend who can rub off some of their fortune off on them. Things to avoid however. Magic Find, Chance to Drop, Rare loot, or Gamble Boxes should ALWAYS be avoided. No matter how much the player base complains, youll lose more players from this mess then youll lose that actually want to pay up. Not to mention less players playing means less surface area for players to actually join the game, ie F2P player has 3 friends who join him, 2 pay for the game. Scare off F2P player before his friends join, nobody pays.
  5. I cant remember the last time my ISP got pissy at me, and Ive ran EE2.7 and a Teamspeak 2 server at the same time. Though, if you have comcast, I could see why they'd get angry. All they want is money. Anyway, opening a port isnt exactly as bad as you might think. Modern routers will automatically block traffic from users who try a port scan on your router, which is an instant failure on their part. And the good hackers? They wont be targeting you.
  6. ![](http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/9277/clickthatv.jpg) Click the highlighted button in File.
  7. Alright, we've scrapped some ideas, but with some help we've got our client looking like this now. ![](http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/1015/thenextlook.jpg) Me thinks its turning out alright so far. Edit: Setting this to resolved, but I cant for the life of me find the lock button for the topic D;<
  8. Ive got that, but what is the actual name of the game area? This topic is going way off topic ;o
  9. Dark Chocolate is best chocolate. Also best with mint.
  10. http://www.fortypoundhead.com/showcontent.asp?artid=20502 You can thank me later
  11. Looks like imageshack decided to change its actual name on my photo. Anyway Its probably best I update even further what we want this thing to look like. Image final fantasy 7, health bar and mana at the bottom of the screen, commands pop up when its your turn, etc. We're actually probably going to hide most if not all on screen gui elements, but being able to move the actual DX8 window is still something I need. I know in EO its called picScreen, still hoping someone can help me out with the name for it in EA.
  12. The problem we're facing is the fact that the on screen elements are slightly in our way, and makes it slightly difficult to deal with certain areas of the screen. I believe we might try fading most of the elements when they arent needed, as well as hiding a good deal of objects all together (ESC menu + bindable keys). I figure we could also attempt stretching the DX8 window without increasing the amount of tiles and move some elements like that.
  13. Right, which would require a bit of recoding I assume, but doable nonetheless. Still wondering what that DX8 area is called specifically though.
  14. Im trying to move around elements in the current EA window, but I cant for the life of me figure out how to move the actual game window. Simply put, Im trying to make this: >! ![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/a2ba9378a26079c5480f7a7850f59116.png) Turn into this: >! ![](http://imageshack.us/a/img844/8650/clipboard02of.jpg) I can handle the rest of this, and turn it less into a mess mind you xD, but like I mentioned, I cant figure out what the name of the game area is called.
