  1. @Kusy: > You can't make games without playing them. Playing games becomes part of your job with this. Sadly, its hard to balance them. Most of the time, you'll just be finding inspiration from this and that. Especially if you're studying full-time, it becomes hard to find time to play games, at least for me!
  2. Yeah I'm using it to show what team you're in. But I might change it.
  3. Depends. Leveling up makes a player feel good, but if you don't have new content for them at each level. Its a worthless number and a grind fest. Levels normally go in-hand with giving the player new content, new quests and armor, new maps to explore. If you can whip out content for every level, and leave little to none as worthless level ups, you'll be constantly rewarding the player with this "feel good" boost.
  4. @LeaRae: > I wouldn't specialize in game development - instead, study Software Engineering which is a somewhat more "real life application" of computer science. It will open your eyes to how software is made, and then you can make anything. Also, you'd then have a degree lending it self to being team lead or a manager - and that's where you want to be. DESIGNing code instead of WRITING code :) > > I'd say a portfolio is the biggest thing. Get projects out there. When I apply for jobs and I show them Coloreye on the Android market or my website at http://leafexcavations.com they love that stuff! Keep the code clean, you never know when a company will say, "You look good, send me some code" - Just happened to me, luckily I had some code I felt like sharing! > > I am temporarily dropping out of uni right now, I'm planning to go back but not for a year at least. Who knows, if I get a great job I might not need to go back. Anyone who talks to me knows that I Know My Shit. While Mirage Source got me started, it didn't teach me development practices or how to work in a team. I'd say you should go to college/uni, if not just to learn that stuff as well as leadership and teamwork skills. > > As far as internships go, there are two types. There are paid internships and unpaid internships. Let's just say this: unpaid internships are for artists, not scientists or engineers. If a company tells you the internship is unpaid just walk out. I'm studying a Diploma in Game Design. I find it a stupid mistake. The only reason I decided to do this was to have more time to work on my portfolio. If you want to get into the industry as a programmer, take a Computer Science course or as he mentioned, Software Engineering. Companies rarely take any graduates from a "Game Programming" course because they don't teach what is really necessary, just what looks good, and interesting. Don't fall for these traps. Go for a less specialized course.

    Member ages.

13-19 should be in two options if you want to find out more accurately! I'm 18 and its weird being groups with 13 years olds :/
  6. @Bonk: > Is there a shpoop? There needs to be a shpoop. I back bonk up on the shpoop sound. Imagining it just makes the game sound so much more fun :)
  7. Looks awesome, I like the scenery they showed in the trailer. Looks more interesting then the previous games.
  8. @Admiral: > This is epic! Thanks :) @Annahstas: > SPIDER MAN BY: ANNAHSTAS !!!!! > > ![](http://i42.tinypic.com/1rof1k.jpg) Good job!
  9. @Tael: > Looks very professional. ;) Because it is ;) thank you.
  10. The best part about it is if you stop at any of the steps in the tutorial, you already have something good.
  11. No man.. if thats the result you wanted, you could have done much simpler things. This is a good tutorial, http://kiwinuptuo.deviantart.com/gallery/27054576#/d3d4ufx
  12. @Jon: > As much as that show/fad annoys me, your shading is superb. Thanks man, but it ain't a fad. Its pretty cool. I've always enjoyed animations. I kind of rushed this because I was in a hurry to leave my house, so much of it is random though!
  13. ![](http://i.imgur.com/A4ne2.png) I hope this is okay? I hid his hands AND legs inside the Pony's legs. Rainbow Dash!

    Swaggernauts

I think Swaggernauts is a nice name. Maybe because I have never seen Jersey Shore xD
  15. Personally, I would have loved to make this a Ghostbusting game :D
  16. Nope, they're it should be no difference. My logic is: The fact that he is using stolen graphics is illegal. If he simply unencrypted it and kept it in a folder or something, it isn't. I think. I'm not a lawyer. xD
  17. I like the idea, I hope you find a good pixel artist. You'll need a really good, matching art style to pull off a zombie survival game.
  18. I liked the tree more before the filter :(
  19. I just realized that this was posted here. I actually believed the project was a complete secret till 5 minutes ago. Anyway, to respond to the Blue/Purple/Red/Orange colour clash. No they don't clash, learn some color theory, it'd really explain why I did why I did it. Unless my color theory is really just wildly mismatching colors till I like it. I forgot which I did xD Thanks for all the nice comments on the graphics!
  20. If your graphics are actually worth stealing, it means they're good. If somebody had to steal your graphics, it means they're probably incapable of doing it themselves. If they are incapable of making your quality graphics, whatever you decide to do with the graphics, yours will always be one step ahead, and of a higher standard. To back you up, you own the copyright of everything you make. If things really get out of hand, and they ever make money off what they stole. You can make money off them by suing their asses. Don't worry too much about encryption.
  21. I love those, keep up the good work man. ;)
  22. out comes Robin in a sparkly 70's disco outfit. In goes a black man.
