  1. Task Manager > End Process. Rather than doing that, you should handle it server side, so that the server holds the player for a bit longer after logging off, and keep them on if they are being attacked to stop unfair tactics, that way, they may think they're getting away with it, but really, they're being freely killed. :] Check for the disconnection logic server-side. It wouldn't be hard to add a timer into TempPlayer, and to only clear the player once the timer has passed a certain amount of time.

Added a new section for the discussion of Icecraft, rather than being a general location. Alongside that, I've opened up a suggestions forum where you can suggest what we run a public server for. [http://glaciate.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=42](http://glaciate.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=42)
  3. I would've replied laughing at them. :-D
  4. > Instant no to…twitter... Do not underestimate Twitter. I repeat, do not underestimate Twitter. It is an extremely valuable resource that you can exploit so easily if you know how to.
  5. Basically, I sure as hell ain't offering support for this. You use it purely at your own risk. And the…4? other competent programmers here are likeminded.
  6. > You can't quit. You're the only developer left ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//tongue.png). Exactly.
  7. > Hey guys i just want you to know that deathbeam stops working on ER and EA untill he will be unbanned again… Ooh, nice, a blackmail attempt. Well, I rebut with this; if Deathbeam is unbanned, I will quit. So, you have a choice, a chronic thief, or one of your developers. Take your pick. In the meantime, later today, I'm going to post on the Q&A board that you now use EA/ER at your own risk - as I ain't offering support for it, and neither do I imagine many competent programmers here doing so - alongside an EA/ER to EO2/3 converter. Ooh, these next few weeks of pruning this engine is going to be great. :]
  8. They're both bad. Please, stop using those terrible fonts, using odd discordant effects, and using soft glows for everything. If you are going to use a cursive font, make it readable, otherwise, stick to serif for fantasy logoes.
  9. > -snip- My main problem was trying to make the left hand look as if it were behind the person, which I've obviously not done a good job of in terms of perspective. When I do make another attempt of it, I'll try my best to at least make it look like it's behind them, not smaller than the other! > -snip- I'm drawing a small series of concepts in the same cross-hatch style (except the others are nowhere near as dark, so they're at least coherent from a photo of it. :]), that'll go with the presentation of a project. It's not that I don't want to use colour, but I decided to stick to full monochrome. Was that lantern comment sarcatic? :P At the noise, the actual drawing is far less noisy, so perhaps I'll reupload it and just show that, not a rushed Photoshop to try and make the black lines more prominent. > -snip- Hm, next time I try a dark scene, I'll try to be less dependant on cross-hatching. :] > -snip- That's neither necessary or helpful.
  10. You do not need a second thread for this. Don't be rude, lest you receive no help.
  11. Sorry 'bout the low quality; ain't got a scanner, so the iPad's camera had to do for now. ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//tongue.png) ![](http://services.glaciate.net/file_host/host/69c043d7040f498df42d30a49d17c8a6.jpg) Used a 2B pencil, 0.5mm calligraphy pen, 10mm calligraphy pen, and ~140gsm (can't remember.) cartridge paper. The time taken was roughly an hour and a bit? It's probably a bit too dark, but it's basically meant to just be an armoured person walking along a dark room with a lantern…I won't diverge what it's for, yet, but I was hoping to get some comments and criticisms before I compile it all first. A little bit about the process, if you care to know... (it's a bit pic heavy) >! So, I started with the outline in a 2B pencil. >! ![](http://services.glaciate.net/file_host/host/32c0e9b7598b24b55a7c2b1cedc9ea12.JPG) >! And from there the shadows on the walls were added, and all the other details, played around with some contrast and brightness options in Photoshop to pretty it up a bit, and you know the rest. :>
  12. > Bro no nodo with that am using eclipse origin and even IF I get it from internet it just wont work heres the link im gunna get media fire link so u can check it out 2 sec I'm going to assume that you did not read my post. Do not post it here, we do not need it to know what's wrong. Either they're running it in a stupid manner or you haven't supplied the runtime files. Most likely the latter.
  13. (For future reference, let me redirect you here: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/topic/131249-tips-on-how-to-ask-an-effective-question/) First, you need to make sure that your friends have installed the runtime files. Windows will not magically get DirectX7/8 out of thin air, you need to tell them to download the right files. If you are using Eclipse Origins v2, v2.3, or any other DirectX7-based engine, give them: http://www.robin.freemmorpgmaker.com/eo_runtimes.zip If you are using Eclipse Origins v2.7, 3, EA/ER, or any other DirectX8-based engine, give them: http://jcsnider.freemmorpgmaker.com/Eclipse%20Runtime%20Files%20Installer.exe

    > The new site is awesome. But I found something troubling me. I feel it would be better if the twitter feed was on the side. And the black and white mix just doesn't look good. You're right, it should go in the sidebar. I'll change that alongside the colour scheme a bit later, which'd give me the perfect oppurtunity to reade the slider.

Made some updates. Got rid of the hover listbox, as it seemed to be glitchy for most. I've also set a single colour relating to the logo for the theme now.
  17. You know the distance check already, from what I've given you, so I'll provide this: Graphing a circle on a 2D plane would look like this: x^2 + y^2 = radius^2. Loop through the x - 3 to x + 3, and the same for y, and check if it's within the distance, and fits or is smaller than the radius. Should be simple. Good luck!

    .NET ENGINE v1.0

    > I didn't know VB.NET had classes. I frown on Visual Basic, that's probably why. ![:o](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//ohmy.png) For the record, Visual Basic.NET and C# are -identical- in function. The literally only difference is syntax, and performance differences are very negligable, if any. Why do you frown on Visual Basic? ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//tongue.png)
  19. > -snip- All apart from three are perfectly valid, but they're (with the exception of the last point. That should've happened, and will be happening.) more down to VB6 than EO, so your points are a bit irellevant, don't you think? ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//tongue.png) Well, at least you can actually list some general issues to go with that statement, but I still feel it's an exaggeration to call it a "bloody mess".

    .NET ENGINE v1.0

    > I guess you're right. Although, I still think the module structure is horrible. Classes are so much better in my opinion anyway, C# for the win. ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//tongue.png) You CAN use classes in vb.net, in the exact same way, you know? If Daxter isn't using classes to start, then obviously he's keeping one of the problems that Mirage never made use of: OO. @Daxter; drop the hungarian notation, please.
  21. > Anyway, EO is hardly clean, it is a bloody mess. Alright. Please define as many areas as possible where EO is a "bloody mess". And, yes, I'm serious. It gets really annoying when members left, right and center say that EO has problems, yet many can't even explain the problems, let alone label them.
  22. > Sekaru left out the things he was saying, but I won't resort to his level. I think you've already surpassed it, there, mate. You're already bloody cocky, and arrogant as hell. > This guy is an admin? Maybe it is time you learn how to be a proper one, Sekaru. Nope, we're not! ![:D](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//biggrin.png)

  24. > My solution is making the max X and Y of a map not set to a limit so make a map like 500 by 500 there ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//tongue.png) That's clever, let's fling 500x500 maps as one massive packet repeatedly! ![^_^](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//happy.png) > …ya but not al engines can handle ur way XD... and + resources as trees... ur map explodes forever XD... Hm, well, fundamentally speaking, the method is more or less exactly the same in terms of Mirage-derivatives. > …catching... Dearie me. > …and not 9 maps. Well, let's compare using the 4 adjacent maps and the current map, to the surrounding 8, and the current map. I'm standing near the corner of my current map. Ew, how fugly, there's a great black space in the corner!
  25. > now mr "dev" just stop posting snip b/c ur only one lookin for a fight. now stay on topic. I don't even know what to say.
