    Tileset WIP

Latest progress. I may go back and make some changes, however. Everything's becoming a bit too cartoony for my taste. It's giving me Pokemon vibes. ![](http://i45.tinypic.com/z7d3m.png)

    New Tiles WIP

@Murdoc: > this tree looks like a mushroom > > ![](http://hackedirl.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/epic-win-photos-mushroom-tree-win.jpg) It's also the product of human intervention. That doesn't occur naturally.
  4. I like the tiles; they have a nice gritty feel to them. More tree/ground clutter tiles would really help to break the repetition. I'd also recommend what Niko said - adjust the colors in Photoshop a bit. Offset the trees, for example, to help them stand out from the grass a bit more because trees and grass are never the same exact shade.
  5. What a bro, haha. Nice stuff. Thanks for it all, really! If I use any of it I'll be sure to credit you.
  6. @jcsnider: > Generally, I would like to keep everything the same size as standard Eclipse 2.0,2.3, or even 3.0\. I do not want to get stuck with a ton of form work. Does this mean the same ~~constricted in-game _view-box thing_~~ game screen (?) in the top left corner? I've always felt like I'm peering through a tiny window when using the current GUI.
  7. [Joined a project.](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf2/index.php/topic,82402.0.html) ;) >! I've got a long-term goal of sorts to create a game, but right now I only have half the skill set to do so. I can't write a scrap of code. >! Before you keeping reading - this isn't a payed position. I'm instead looking for a skilled partner share a vision with. >! The vision I have requires lots of work - too much for one person. Maybe too much for two. I'm talking custom attractive graphics, an intiutive GUI, features out the wazoo, and an RP experience that keeps the players playing. Essentially, something that (after release) doesn't die, but grows. >! Responsibilites I can manage: >! * Tilesets * Sprites * All other GFX (GUI/icons/etc) * Mapping * Storytelling * Any non-programming aspect of game development >! I don't have a lot to show for my talents, but here's a recent WIP of a forest tileset constructed of everything I've drawn so far: ![](http://i49.tinypic.com/zvaeqg.png) Maps will, of course, become more complex and attractive once I draw more tiles. I personally guarantee competent work. >! I've played enough RP's to know what keeps me coming back. (I believe) too many games here lack polish, originality, and _fun_. Beyond the recycled graphics and clunky gameplay, they regurgitate aspects of the MMORPG formula that have proven to be undesirable - IE go-to-and-collect-X-items quests and other grindy things. There's a lot of talent and great stuff here; I just think something better is possible. >! An example of some features I'd like to include are below. These are just ideas and real decision making would be shared between us. >! * Friend List/Chat * Intuitive GUI and seamless interfaces * Improved and interactive NPC dialogue * Revised skill hotbar (4 special attacks dependent on the wielded weapon and 4 spells of choice) * Instanced areas * Party system (at least just for instanced maps) * Content-heavy quests (plots, objectives, storyline twists, and unique zones) * Event-based terrain changes (IE finish a quest, area changes) * Dynamic skill systems - some that interact with terrain (IE chops tree -> factors in level/equipment -> gains wood and XP -> reverts to stump (for all players) -> respawns back into tree) * Trading * Guilds * Banks * Customized PVP system >! Obviously if someone were to take the position they'd have their work _more than_ cut out for them, just as I do. So to sum it up, I'd need a team member with these traits: >! * Knowleagable programming skills * Motivation * Patience - lots of it * Maturity * Anything else is a bonus! >! I realize I'm asking for something next to a miracle of a teammate, so chances are slim. But if you're the magical one, and you feel like making something great, feel free to get in touch with me. >! Eclipse 3.0 in HD.

@daxterxx: > I started writing this in a blank version of EO 3.0\. Theres no glitches / bugs or capping around the edges. If pulled off, something like that would blow my mind.

@Sherwin: > They are awesome!! Can you share them? :D Thanks :cheesy: but sorry, I'm not doing anything with them until I finish an entire set. Then I'll figure out how to put them to use. New screeny! >! ![](http://i47.tinypic.com/k4jrx1.png) Added a some darker values, although I'm not sure if it was enough. Made a few edits and finally made some cliffs to go along with everything.

@ICT: > Looks.. outstanding. > The pine trees, highlight the to where you have the bottom leaves, they should be poking out further than the rest. > The rocks could use a lil work on shape and shading. > You have msn? Thanks. I'm not sure what you mean with the pines? You're right about the rocks. I'm having a difficult time executing the awkward shapes correctly. Yeah, although I frequent Skype more. @Kreator: > Great start, but all your palettes are lacking a darker shade. The stumps, leaves and rocks would all look better with an additional darker tone. Hmm… I'll see what I can do.

    Tileset WIP

Lately I've started working on a custom tileset. So far I only have a few forest tiles completed, but I was hoping to get some input before I invest more time into these tiles. >! ![](http://i50.tinypic.com/qsuvxg.png) Colors have been the biggest trouble for me, I think. In that particular screenshot everything feels too green. I can't figure out how to neutralize it. What do you guys think? Anything that needs tweaking? EDIT: An update of recent progress: ![](http://i50.tinypic.com/eqv7gw.png)
