    Tree making tips?

Could you post your WIP image? I don't know if you mean concept art.. pixel.. flash.. crayon drawing.. ASCII.. Pruning a real tree.. Show us a preview so we can assess your skill, and tell you how to improve ;)
  2. I really like it dude, amazing work. Only crit I have is I assume by the 'hill' in the water that the water is partially transparent, so you would have to do the same with the grass, for it to make sense. Or else it's pretty much saying the grass is a thin piece of land on the water. ![](http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/8215/mockup5.png) Other than that, I love it all. It has great perspective, and great colors. Ace job :)
  3. @⌐Cδlorful¬: > Omg that looks sooo awesome! Thanks, compliments never get old ;D
  4. @taylon: > file:///C:/Users/Taylon.Joan-PC/Desktop/BigSprites.bmp You, are epic. Upload them to the internet..
  5. @NnsNightshade: > This is the project taken up by team WCS, thanks to Azyru. I'm so thankful. Its been fun so far. > > ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/terrorofdeath8/edspritebmale.png) > Is the new WIP male sprite base. With a WIP hair base for the male (long). > > Tilesets are in progress as well as theme musick. > > :D :O Looking nice. Reminds me of Gaia a bit, Just, the pose and head. Can't wait to see the end product.
  6. You made the graphics match your GUI's quality, gj!
  7. @Mr.: > You need a fence then, health and safty demands it. Dammit you're right, **Safty** first! It was really only playing around with that way of creating steps, I don't think i'll be caring if players somehow fall off a building with blocked pathways :P
  8. @Mr.: > Very nice. :D > But, stairs on the roof? O.o Haha yeah, for when you uhh, want to get a better view of the pond?
  9. Just a random sword shop where a home should be. Quick mock-up map test for applying the tiled trees, small fences, and small dirt hill/cliffs. INB4 CRIT: Water and Stairs are placeholders, I may use the same technique for the water and add small anomalies to differ from the normal, but the stairs will change to suit the style more, don't worry. EDIT: Will be changing the 'cliffs' in the water to match the newly created cliffs. Will also make the 'newly created cliffs' emerge into the grass. 10. @Mr.: > I like the support avatars. Really cool. Thanks Kris! :) More updates soon to come, and soon we'll be expanding our advertising past these four limited, but well designed EO borders. Grand. A change from all this self-proclaimed leetism will be nice.
  11. Okay, perfect may have been a bad choice of word, but out of these two, we're looking for which is better. Also it's feedback for Socuine, as for our own work, most people are relatively one-sided in their views. It's collecting opinions, seeing other peoples viewpoints of work, not just our own, so that we can improve in the eyes of 'the general public'. Cropping a preview of the logo isn't a drastic change.
  12. Anna, it's that we're looking for which logo design is best, elements like background etc can change a logo, agreed, but we want the perfect logo, so i've decreased the size to make voting more about the logo its self, not the effects used around it.
  13. Alright changed them to focus more on the logos, and also the second one has changed since it had small difference to the most recently updated one, which was one of the cons G-Man stated.
  14. Two Logos, One to Rule them all, yada yada.. These are both created by Socuine, but we are at a halt at which one to use. Post your pros and cons about each one, and we'll add them to a list below each, and which one has your vote. ![](http://www.ambershire.net/user/toranos/preview/ambershire_wood_grass1.jpg) **Pros:** Anna Comnena: I like the font and color scheme of the first one **Cons:** G-Man: The stroke seems fine at first but a bit too harsh on second glancing NnsNightshade: looks a bit clunky and it doesn't seem to fit what I know of the game overall. **Voted for:** Socuine, G-Man ![](http://www.ambershire.net/user/toranos/preview/new-ambershire-logo5.png) **Pros:** G-Man: nice colour scheme and the effect is clean NnsNightshade: It has a cleaner, and better look, overall. Text weight and style is perfect, and it works well with the colours. K722: I like the second one because it look's smooth and more professional. **Cons:** NnsNightshade: glowy effect over the last I looks a bit too harsh and ends too abruptly. **Voted for:** Toranos, NnsNightshade, K722, Toshiro Hayate, Azyru _____________________ Ignore the different setups, didn't want to bother going through a huge hassle just to preview two logos. Also, we aren't too worried about talking about the backgrounds (clouds), the main objective is to find out which logo is supreme. EDIT: Alright, changed them to focus more on the logos. Cast your votes!
  15. Just a quick 'support' gift from the one and only Sean. ![](http://www.ambershire.net/common/support_avy_CHANGETHIS.png) ``` http://www.ambershire.net/common/support_avy_CHANGETHIS.png ``` A support avatar for anyone jealous that one of these sexy beasts are not in your profile page. A quick and simple change of the link 'CHANGETHIS' to your username, and whaazaam! ![](http://www.ambershire.net/common/support_avy_Toranos.png)![](http://www.ambershire.net/common/support_avy_SexyPerson.png)![](http://www.ambershire.net/common/support_avy_IluvAS.png) Thanks Mr. Sean!
  16. @Devo: > Scrollbar much? ~~I guess, screw organized first posts.~~ Whatever, What I want to say is Chief, you can tell there is a lot of good work in that piece, The colors are good, it's just Socuine's uses background and effects, making it more 'attractive' in overall aspects, rather than just focusing on the text. Although I can't wait to see how your PSD looks, sounds good. :)
  17. Only yours is shown on the first post?
  18. @Slowpoke: > Merrimint? Ahh Slowpoke, No, Merrimint died, or, is really inactive anyway. This is a totally new project.

    Just a Tree.

An overall thanks all for the great feedback ;D @Lukin: > I love the simple style on the grass and path, even without detail you managed to make it look awesome, guess it's those small details every once in a while. :P > And those trees are nice, but they seem puffy to me, not like it's leaves or branches, but I like it, makes it a bit different from other trees. Yeah, as seen by the spritesheet, I'm going for 'puffy' and over-exaggerated, and that cartoon look. I also do agree about the small details, a small insert of them to stop any bland layout, and it's 'awesome' heh. @Lavos: > The tree is really neat. Really looks good with that map and sprites too. Well thanks! @Socuine: > Just epic, really darn epic. As expected from you Toranos. :] *Humbled* @Grizzy: > Really like this tree. Two thumbs up (: Thank you, I really like it too :P @NnsNightshade: > Tree itself looks pretty nice…with the current tileset not so much, only because that tree has insane dark shading and detail compared to the otherwise scarecely detailed and shaded other tiles. I'd lighten the very very darker shade on the trees, so that it may flow better together? > > But the tree itself looks very nice, in my opinion, though it does seem very stylized and not so much realistictree like, as someone has mentioned before me. :3 I will try that out for sure, but the reason I have things 'insanely' shaded, such as the house and these trees, and probably more things, is to create the sort of 'contrast'. It is an attempt to balance the look, if you see the old trees map, the trees made the map sting your eyes with brightness, but these trees kill the over-brightness a lot. I will give your suggestion a shot though, and post the results. But thanks. @Socuine: > I think it goes well with the environment, especially with the soft sand and soft grass. If everything looks the same, it would be bland. So some variation would be nice. :3 My thoughts exactly. @Kris: > Looks good! I like the darker look, the old trees were way to bright. _Wayy_ too bright. xD Thanks Kris.
  20. Mmhm, ignore my horribly congested mapping skills, btw. :P And thanks.
  21. Just a quick SS post of updated trees if no one read my Show off post. Also just to archive it in this WIP thread. ![](http://www.ambershire.net/user/toranos/preview/TreeLivePreview.png)

    Just a Tree.

A quick 'tiled' preview map done in EO. ![](http://www.ambershire.net/user/toranos/preview/TreeLivePreview.png) And thanks Captain, all noted. Will be doing different trees, just wanted this pretty much for tiling like this.

    Just a Tree.

Just wanted some C&C on these trees i've done for Ambershire. ![](http://www.ambershire.net/user/toranos/preview/TreePreview.png) >! ![](http://www.ambershire.net/user/toranos/preview/maps/map-preview1.jpg) Uhm. Took me about 30 minutes, Never really done trees before, but first time for everything.. ;D (Yeah I did the 'Old Trees" but they shouldn't be considered trees).
  24. Wow, I really like the revamped, good work AmSamurai, and nice work overall Jake. ;)
