  1. I totally hope you get everyone you need, but I do need to be critical, because for years we've seen people come and go who hope to join Eclipse, draw an idea for a game, learn some basic mapping, and ask everyone else to do the rest for them. What exactly would you be bringing to the table? Again, not trying to be an asshole, just throwing that in there! :) Good luck!
  2. Actually looks REALLY good man. Good job! Only suggestion I got is to take a tree or two out of the pathway? Could open it up a bit more? Keep it up!
  3. Yeah I caught that too! :p Thanks man haha
  4. Note: The skull in the sand will not be used, and the rock will be shaped a little bit more.
  5. In the future, we may switch over, I have no clue haha. I don't really have a huge say in that, but I just assume if I had a quality-made sprite that fit the game, we may be able to use it. And yeah! I do like the sprite, but I also love the 'washed out' feel of the tiles I have now. I'll give everything a shot as long as time persists :) Thanks again guys.
  6. Looks awesome man! :) I have a new tree coming pretty soon as well. Been looking at some more tutorials as well on how to make them look like real trees haha. I'll let you know what I come up with, and I do love the palette you used for those trees. Thanks dude :)
  7. Thanks a ton for the input dude! Don't take anything I say below disrespectfully, I don't want it to come off that way :p As for the rocks, that's exactly what I was aiming for :p I think Im more content with the rock on the lake more so than the cave, but I just wanted to get a base down so that mapping can begin for the game. Once it's done, I can always alter the minor details and not affect the mapping. The stone has been completely redone, as I agree completely. That old one did look out of place, for sure. I will be trying out various colours of trees once I get some more minor tiling done! :) If I may ask though, which colour of tree stump do you believe fits the grass more? I want to say the brighter one does, but meanwhile the grey-er one's palette looks as if it fits more. Puts me in a rut! :p Any thoughts?

SJR Nailed it ^ Give it some sort of dynamic to make it pop out from it's background, and try not to use such vibrant and plain colours such as the red on the handle (unless you're going to mix it with other softer/darker colours. Initially though, it's not a bad attempt at all :)
  9. Try and put your lightsource from the bottom left or top right. As you can see, if you put it down the top left, you would only have light streaming DOWN the blade, leaving you with no option but to make your handles fairly dark and boring. Location wise, for all items or sprites, it'd be best if you chose a spot that will distinguish one side from the other. For example, the sword had done has a very light 'right' side and a very dark 'left' side which also allowed me to give the handle and handguard (forget the name :( ) a little bit of texture. Again though, your initial attempt is not terrible whatsoever :) Don't be scare to drastically change colours in your palette! It's a big step haha. Hope that makes sense! Good luck, man :) I'll keep checking back!
  10. Hey man! :) Looks pretty good for beginner pixel art! You may want to reconsider using such vibrant colours and use some more 'washed' colours (unless you have a very colourful game?) I would suggest NOT using yellow until you're used to creating a fitting palette, only because it's a very hard colour to work with on a white background. Also, on the single sword, you may want to consider giving it a darker border on the side where there is no light (considering you've chosen an angle for a light source). For the handles of all swords, try and shade them accordingly as well so that they don't look so flat. Post your edits here! :) Im excited to see what they come out as. All the best, dude! Keep it up. Also, check out some of the tutorials around the forums! They're very helpful for people at your stage in pixel art. :)

    My Latest Work!

Damn I'm thirsty… Looks good, despite the EXTREMELY small and spaced torch-testes!

Also, not such a big fan of the tiles, but it does look pretty neat! One suggestion though; see what you can do about dithering or making those shadows transparent. Some shadows are dark green, other dark grey, and it's inconsistent. Not your fault, but give it some thought! :p Nonetheless, it's looking good!
  14. Hey man! Not sure what program you use, but I suggest a program (creatively!) called Tileset Maker. You can make the tiles flat then use an effect that switches them to iso tiles, and it also provides a 'colorize' effect which, when drafted lightly, can add a huge dynamic and seamless mend to your tiles :)
  15. [![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/3f1b63aea597f99f5368542cc4cb8e30.bmp)](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/#3f1b63aea597f99f5368542cc4cb8e30.bmp) Hey man! It looks fantastic for a first sprite! But if I went easy on ya, you wouldn't be learning much! I wish I had come here when I started my pixel art hobby, as everyone is pretty tough and brutally honest which is definitely an awesome thing. The picture above is what I did to your sword by changing the upper lineart, and giving the handle more a decor/thinning it. What I'd advise is thinking of what you know a sword looks like (UNLESS you were honestly going for that rigid tipped look.) Like Scribblyz said, pillow shading will get you no where, but it is a good start. Take a deep look into what I did to your sword, and let me know if it helped! There are also some wicked tutorials that have helped me as well! Take a look :) All the best man! Keep it up :) Nayte
  16. Thanks a lot man! :) I appreciate the input!
  17. Looks awesome man!! :) You should shrink it down and make some lineart out of the small version! :)
  18. Anything really, is useable I believe? Just cannot be used commercially for profit. (Example; most games use RMXP graphics) If I'm wrong, someone clarify, but I don't believe it's useless :p
  19. That's exactly what it's supposed to be :p But outside! Nonetheless, I agree that it kinda looked lame at second sight, so I made a new one that will be in the next mock up :)
  20. Hey guys! Thanks for the C&C! :) Pain has been relaying it to me while I was at work and I'll get working on some better edits after I have a more complete tileset! Anything else, please let me know! :) The stone path on the right I believe will be more used as a 'man made' path with a stone border, rather than be used as a grass underlay. This was just put together to show everything I have. I will have various trees, etc. Again, thanks a ton! :)
  21. Whoa! Looks awesome man :) Thanks a ton
  22. Wow! I know this isnt a show off kinda deal, but those looks wicked man, honestly. Good work!
  23. Hey man! My name's Nayte, and I'm a decent pixel artist (or try to be :p) I'm not picky whatsoever, but I love blue, and hourglasses/skulls. I'll let your imagination do the talking if you'd like to do a sig/avatar in your free time? :) The one you did for Kratos looks awesome, but maybe like 60 pixels shorter and 32 pixels longer? Other than that, go nuts! You don't need to put 'Pixel artist' in there, just Nayte.

    Sprite Size

Oh wow, perfect! So as long as it's a factor of 16, I can just arrange them in fours with equal dimensions and it splits it into 4 without changing any coding or settings? I'll give it a shot when I get home. Thanks guys :)
