  1. Noted! I'll tone down the greens.
  2. Hey everyone! My name is Nayte, an old user of EO back in the Mirage/Elysium days when I knew very little and had no skill. I've been underground (literally in my basement) for the past week working on some custom graphics for an economy/trade based ORPG that flips the combat/trades system upside down. I do plan on using Eclipse V when it is released, and releasing expansions every 6 months after the game is out of BETA testing. When I have more planned, I'll make an official Thread with more detail. For the time being I just wanted to make a post with what I've been working on! Enjoy! Edit: This one below is the 'Before' [![](http://i.imgur.com/eVxZItb.jpg)](http://imgur.com/eVxZItb) And _this_ one is the new style. Still some changes needed, the obvious one being actual trees, and cleaner shading on the bottom of the cliff. [![](http://i.imgur.com/87Gi5QC.jpg)](http://imgur.com/87Gi5QC) Main character ( 32 x 48 ) (_Used Imgur to upload, and it raped the colouring, but you get the point._) [![](http://i.imgur.com/wkT8ZqL.gif)](http://imgur.com/wkT8ZqL) **Enemy:** _Small Bushel_ [![](http://i.imgur.com/DLlYD4N.png)](http://imgur.com/DLlYD4N) **Enemy:** _Ghast_ [![](http://i.imgur.com/EgEdPj8.png)](http://imgur.com/EgEdPj8) The community her has always been so fantastic, but for safety reasons I'd like to make sure that I state that these are not for distribution or personal/commercial use.
  3. Hey guys! This is just the first of many tiles I hope to make for the new Eclipse Engine. I'm not too sure what I want to do with them yet as far as selling, donating, or letting the community use them, but I guess I'll wait until I have something polished and worth while. What I _would_ like to do with them is get a few talented GFX artists together to come up with a tileset that can be used by anyone as far as it's for recreational use, and not capital. HOWEVER - at this point I'm just looking for feedback on what I have to show. The first tree does need a bit of polishing up - the leafy area is very messy. However the second one is more true to what I believe we would be aiming towards [attachment=1009:tree01_32x.png] [attachment=1010:tree02_32x.png]

On second look now though, the only suggestion I'd have is to maybe tint that whiteness around the water a lighter blue, or make it thinner? It kind of looks like it's just an area you forgot to make transparent. Nonetheless, its still really nice :)

Kreator makes an amazing point. I use a very faint baby pink, and it makes the darks stand out, but also allow me to differentiate the difference between my high lights.
  6. "It is a side-scrolling game." That's why :p

Looks amazing man! :) Keep it up!
  8. Looks really nice man :) There's something about the armor that looks wicked. Simplicity ftw.
  9. Looking much better, but Robin is the one to give you the tough love you need, so I'll let him do his job :p Keep up the improvement, dude.
  10. As much as we'd all love to talk you down and tell you how rediculous this project is, at the same time, I would like you to put all that youve got into this game. Yeah, it may, and probably will fail very hard, but there's no way to learn how to use this engine if you don't just screw around with it a little bit for maybe 1 or 2 (or 20) projects. The tiles are too out of proportion, the map looks extremely boring, and the overall idea and name are just not going to work. That is the truth, but if you expect to take the guys above advice and ditch this and do something more promising, the chances of being in an organized team with this much experience is very slim. Learn, and duck this up really badly, then improve the next time around. Repeat that a bunch of times, and you're set. Good luck! PS: To improve the quality of your life in general, try using some basic punctuation such as capital letters and periods in the description of your items.

A gradient is gradually changing shades from lighter to darker or vice versa. Try giving the center pixels of your spear shaft the brighter colour, and shade according to a light source. Sometimes when you're zoomed in and it looks like trash, it actually looks pretty decent at 100% For the handle, you may not even need anymore than 3 or 4 colours to shade it. :)
  12. Like Robin said, get a real game logo, or at the very least, give the name a stroke/outline or some sort of filling effect other than a simple black gradient. Keep it up though, you're improving :p

    New interface.

Looks good! Maybe make the buttons on the top a little bit larger to fill out some of the empty space? :) I like it!
  14. How long have you been part of this community or dealing with any sort of game making on a regular basis?

    My first Tileset

I think the grass would look better as a solid green They look awesome so far though :)
  16. You can also keep the last black pixel on the tip of the sword to keep the shape of it's sharp blade if you feel it looks better, but give the handle some more 'roundedness' and give the blade a little more detail as well. Lightsource placement is key :)
  17. @Lenton: > I'm no expert on grass but I don't think it should have blue in it. You'd be surprised what colours make up the sprites you see all the time. If it's not visible when used, then why not?
  18. We're bringing you back to reality, Juvanio. There's a mind blowing ratio from games that have been completed, and game that havn't even made it past beta, let alone even make it TO a beta or alpha. I think you may be underestimating the time it takes to correctly make a computer game that has something that people WANT. If you're going to just make an old RMXP medieval game with grinding levels, then we can all just make our own or go play something else. Like I said, I support you, but you need to toughen up a little bit and listen to us instead of defending your pride. It sucks, I know. I've been in the position where all I knew how to do was map :p Join a team, learn some new skills, and try again. That's my advice.
  19. Personally, I like the first more than the second. You just need to work more on making it look as if it is not being tiled. Work around the edges of the tile so that they connect. [![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/0d9478866750424fbcfd5891c7f2cf3c.bmp)](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/#0d9478866750424fbcfd5891c7f2cf3c.bmp) I gave it a little bit of work. If you can tell, you can see that it looks slightly more generic and not so choppy. Feel free to use it or edit it, whatevs! Maybe if you even lightened it up a bit more? Up to you! Good luck, dude!
  20. Shade, don't pillow shade. Draw connecting lines, don't draw one solid line with corners. Last 3 arn't terrible, but the body on the robot thing is completely blah. Give it some life. Shade, show some depth, etc.
  21. I see about 3 different 'types' of graphics. What exactly are you going for? Im sure the horse, the bear and the cow are just RMXP sprites, so give those a shot. Google is your friend! There are also massive amounts of resource threads with links.
  22. Robin wtf is with your posts resetting all the time? And grandma fetish? I love you?
