Blister
Well, I know this thread should be to show of skill, which I do not really possess yet. I just have some experience from the good old days I was using the RPG Maker but that was different ^^Well the thing is I just got started with eclipse and tried to make some kind of a lobby, altar, shrine thingy as a test room. So this is my first Map ever created in eclipse. It's lacking detail, too fulll at some parts and too empty at some others… atleast in my eyes. What I hope is that you mapping pros could give me some tipps on what I should change and how I can improve stuff. Also I have to say this map is just for testing... later when i learned way more about eclipse and I'll start making a game I'll replace it.So here are the pics of your worst nightmare: a total noob map XD![](http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/quhawa4g/Map.JPG)http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/quhawa4g/Map.JPG![](http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/6yvntz11/Map2.JPG)http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/quhawa4g/Map.JPG![](http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/rorau6hu/Map3.JPG)http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/rorau6hu/Map3.JPG![](http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/eyxybem/Map4.JPG)http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/eyxybem/Map4.JPG
Robin
Nice.Fancy posting the map, so we can see what you're on about? :]EDIT:Nevermind, you fixed the post. The maps are alright. Not much to crit really. They're fairly open and empty. Just stone walls with wooden flooring.I'll point out that the walls are different heights, though, and that when you're inside a building this leads us to believe the ceiling is terribly uneven, perhaps dangerously so xD

Robin
@Blister:> Yeah sorry I somehow didn't quite manage to display the images.. for whatever reason oO> Atleast you can klick the links now.Because you're linking to a webpage with the images on, rather than a direct link to the image. You can only embed direct linked images with the image tags.

shrig94
not bad, add rugs and maybe a few more statues, be sure to add a few npcs so it doesn't look too dull.
Robin
Looks pretty impressive. I wouldn't mind walking around something like that.
Blister
> not bad, add rugs and maybe a few more statues, be sure to add a few npcs so it doesn't look too dull.I thought so but till yet players in the test area around this building will respawn at the middle of this room. So I didn't want to make it to full. But atleast one npc and soem stuff could be added I agree with you about that.> Looks pretty impressive. I wouldn't mind walking around something like that.Thx. It somehow confuses me to get so positive feedback about this one ^^If u like this I'll maybe conside your oppinion again when I finished the outside of this. I try to make this REALY detailed.Anyways, maybe you can help me with one thing:I set the map as "House" under Properties (EE 2.7) I thought it woud be illuminated automatically at nighttime but it's gettin dark in there two. I just played arround a bit with the lights at the windows.. can you give me any good tipps how to illuminate it atmosphäric at night?Maybe I can turn off the Night feature Inside the map but I would prefer to have it slightly darker in there. You should recognize that it's night outside but the room shall be illuminated in a slightly red atmosphere… like with torches or so... You know what i mean? ^^Any hints?EDIT:I did add some stuff as I was told. Doesn't look to bad but I think this have been my final changes on this one (except the lighting) cause I don't want to make it to full.![](http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/2594/mapdayaf7.jpg)And here I have a shot at night time. But I totally dislike the Lighting… this is where I hope you have better ideas.![](http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4077/mapnighttu3.jpg)
Elder-Bunny
The lighting thing for eclipse is bad to say the least. It's not your fault that the lighting looks like total dog s***.
Blister
Hmm… is there a opportunity to switch of the day/night change map spezific? I'd like to turn it off inside of buildings
Robin
The lighting system is terrible.A better thing to do would be to pre-render the lighting on the tiles.
Blister
Thats an Idea indeed. Maybe I'll try that. ^^
