Also on that note I was looking to just "check out" the engine EO 4.0 Gold and Silver for potential purchase and it has been slightly unclear to me after reading what I am buying. A hosting package does not give you direct access to your server control panel as far as I am aware.Hosting it yourself does, however. Which is why I suggested you download Silver and give it a go.
