Belmont
yeah, like topic says, moved in with my gf about 5 months ago and this computer has 216 traces of trojan malware, with 36 trojans lol..wondered why it was so damn slow, now AVG and Spybot dont pick em up, nor can remove em, I used some online scanner and it told me how many I had, it quarantined them but cant deleted them…halp? Marsh
Well if you have that many problems i would suggest a reformat.
randommembernot ArchAngel
sorry but i have to agree with marsh, with that many your computer is going to die if you don't do something NOW! and reformat is the only 100% effective way of deleting them. Belmont
yeah, your probably right..thing I hate about re-formatting is setting up the network/internet stuff again, but to be honest you guys are probably rightill look into it, I just hope the vista cd is around here somewhere, if I remember correctly I just put that in and theres some re-format option, or something lolI tried that pieman, did that last night actually..thought everything was ok, alas notwierd thing is as well, the files that are infected, dont exist, like it has the path directory, but its not even there, but it is, because they come up on every scan

Belmont
yep, I read up on trojan I have just then, I have to re-format theres no other option lol..you know its bad when your cd-tray opens and closes by itself
randommembernot ArchAngel
you could always try killing them manually, i did that once with 50 trojans… took a week of non stop "look -> study -> delete -> start again"
Marsh
If your cd tray is opening and closings its a script kiddy using some prebuilt trojan and is doing dumb pranks. Go into safe mode so the trojan wont load up then start removing all the startup entries.

Agoraphobic
Lavasoft ad-ware removerhttp://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-Anniversary-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?tag=mncolAvg virus remover (8.0 if you don't have it)http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?part=dl-AVGAntiVir&subj=dl&tag=buttonThese two are probably the best free ones out there. I would recommend running both.(first one is for ad-ware/spyware remover, second one is for viruses).*Edit*http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.phpFriend uses this program, but I have personally never tested it.Hopefully this will help.
