Linpus Linux Aspire One Netbook…

Just bought one of these bad boys as I can never get on one of the desktops… As of yet I've found only a few things I can do on it... I've spoken to Admiral about it and he's confident I could run 3.0 on it? Is this the case? Of course the server would be set up on another computer, I mean Client Only.

Does it have an ARM or an Intel processor? Because some of the netbooks I've seen uses an ARM processor, mine has an Intel N270 atom though.

In case of an ARM processor: your computer is able to run EE 3.0 but not any older versions.
In case of an Intel processor: your computer is able to run EE 3.0 and older versions on Windows (if you can get that installed XD, most netbooks don't have an optical drive).
You'll need at least version 1.6 of the Java Runtime Environment and mainly any version of OpenGL will do.

Sorry, I'm proper newb… Open GL?
I've got a version of Java on here already but, also got Wine, which helps when it comes to downloading and installing stuff.

EE 3.0 uses [OpenGL](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenGL).
Older versions use [DirectX 7](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX).

OpenGL comes by default on your netbook, well it usually does.

Freaking extreme! I'm buzzing about that!

And: Ive got an intel processor but, 2.7 wouldn't run.
But, I didn't and don't have Open GL, I don't think.
What is it? What does it do?

Also, thanks for taking time out to help me with this HM mate, I appreciate it.

EE 2.7 only really works on Windows. The Java thing got removed though, that's why you don't see it.

Now there's completely nothing, he removed it. If it didn't work you would see the square, otherwise you would see the applet. Look for the model viewer in public development and try and see if it works.

That's a big hell no… Omg, I fail so epically... I don't get it I got all the right specs... I guess the main problem is... I'm not by nature a Linux user. On a Windows OS I'd have no trouble at all... It's just this bloody thing.

Doesn't the fact I can't see it point to a flaw in my current version of Java?

User-friendly distrubtion ftw.

@Bongartist:

> Linpus Linux Lite. Is that relevant in some way?

Never heard of it. Well it is for a part, each distribution's roots are different. Debian uses DEB packages for instance, RedHat uses RPM packages.

I guess it's using Fedora.

Downloading and installing Ubunto and Java 6\. That should cover it, right?
Btw, thanks for this guys, I greatly appreciate the shared wisdom.
Oh, and sorry for capitalizing peoples time, I really don't mean to.
I'll let you know how it goes. ;)
