How to write news/updates/events/announcements for your game

Reason behind this tutorial
_The reason that I am doing this tutorial is all because I see alot of people fail logic and common sense in there news and because I got nothing to do at the moment and I like to contribute to communities with my opinions/views/ideas and simply me._

Fast Reader
-NO irrelevant news!
-Put news into fitting boxes/portion!
-PICTURES!!
-Few eyecatching words!
-Put time into it.
-No leetspeak (proper grammar)
-Don't update about no updates!
-Stay to the point!
-Don't update telling about a future update
-This is not all that I wanted to say, but a guy is waiting for me, I'll post more if this gets enough feedback.

No irrelevant news, people do not care about that your cat ate your fish and your mother is bashing you for it, it can be fun and ok from time to time, but don't overdo it!

Put news into fitting boxes, no one wants to get a piece of a puzzle every week instead of the whole puzzle in the end of the month (yes it is a small puzzle!). While no one wants small news people do not want too many at a time either, it is like overfeeding a baby, you have to make sure that the baby gets what it can eat while it doesn't go and purk all over the place afterwards either.

People that are reading news doesn't get anything out of reading "xx% done" as it is just a random number the guy wrote that feels like fitting, then rather share your progress with pictures, also, no one cares about the code unless they want to steal, so only share the code if you need help or want to hear if it can be done in a better way or even to see if anyone can see something that could be cleaned up. Also, don't give us a referrence picture of whatever it is, give us the progress of what will appear ingame, also, don't even show us it if it isn't worth looking at and/or if you got other things to show that are better, then rather save the ugly part until it gets more beautiful (seed becoming a flower), Also, don't save for too long because then it will be too late (dead flower and the woman you love is gone with another guy, congratulations!)

Few words! You can always write in alot more details underneath, but remember to make a quick lookover as most people are lazy asses (like me) who only wants the highlights and maybe read a few words in the big chunk. Also, when people see a wall of text it isn't very likely that they read it before they actually know just a little of what they are going to read and that little is interesting to them.

I know everyone wants to just make there game, but if you already have people interested and you are interested in holding them interested, then you will have to keep them updated or they will disappear as they will forget or find something else to look at. Also use some time on your news pieces, proper grammar is important as it gives a sense of professionalism, that also means no leetspeak, you should already have learned that now that you are on a forum, the only place leetspeak is acceptable (while people still will hate it) is instant chats and works best when gaming in fast paced games where information have to be shared fast. (now that was alittle off-topic)

Don't update about no updates, it is of course a good idea to update them on that you are going away for some time and such, but don't overdo it with stuff like you won't be working on it tomorrow or next weekend and seriously do absolutly not tell them that you aren't going to work on it because you simple do not want at the moment, they won't be taking that in a positive way at all. Also, do not tell them what happend a few days ago that made you unable to work on it, it is too late, only a warning of the future is going to work, the past is only if you want to actually tell what happend in details and if it is relevant/interesting for them in any way and if it is useful for any future stuff (like, my house burned down yesterday and my pc burned too, please be sure to store your stuff with backups on the internetz or somewhere else! I've seen too many lose all there stuff too!).

When you are doing news, be serious, don't put off-topic lulz into it, a few is fine, but it gets tiring fast in the long run if there always is a bad joke in your news.

Don't tell them that you are going to make something tomorrow, rather tell them tomorrow that you made it, that is to be sure that you actually succeded.

Nice guide Skell  ;)

But 2 things that are very important (to me at least XD)

are SPELLING and GRAMMAR!!!! God it is frustrating to me when i see just horribly written English and terrible spelling. Spelling would be understandable if SPELLCHECK didn't exist, but it's so easy, just copy all your text into either Microsoft Word or just google online spellchecker  and it'll help immensely. As with grammar, it's super annoying when people overuse sentence fragments (a few is ok, but every other sentence is way too much), lack of punctuation, and massive run-on sentences that should be entire paragraphs.
