Composer/Musician looking for work (Will work for free sometimes, read post)

I'm pretty much gonna follow Godlord's set up here to the letter.

# What you are experienced in and what you actually want to do.

The main skillset I'm bringing to the table here is music.  I am both a musician and composer, and for a small fee I will compose individual songs or soundtracks.  I mostly stick to instrumental work, but I have worked with vocals before.

# Some portfolio or samples of your work.

I'm just going to upload White Hat and a few other recent songs, check the attachments.  Maybe some of my older material, not sure.  For the most part, expect instrumental work, orchestral, jazz, whatever.  I'm flexible.

Updated: Ages and White Void have been uploaded.  Interlude will most likely follow.

I'll try to keep this section updated regularly with new material.

EDIT: Throwing a lot of the other stuff into a spoiler.  Long post is long.  In short, keep in mind that I really, really tend to not get around to free stuff for a while.  So feel free to use stuff I post here, but in all honesty, if I'm not being paid, that particular job might take a month for me to get around to it.  I'm lazy, sue me.

>! # On what you've worked on in the past like games, projects, etc.
>! I've worked on several independent games, animations, and advertisements before, but nothing especially notable.  My current work includes writing the soundtrack to an independent animation called The Drifter.
>! # How many years you've spent already on the several things you're experienced in.
>! I've been playing violin for about 17 years now, and have been composing music for around 10 years.  I also play piano and guitar.
>! # Some scheme representing when you can actually work each week.
>! I'm honestly available almost whenever.  I currently do not hold what most would consider a traditional job, so I end up having a lot of free time for music.
>! # If you want to do it part-time or not.
>! As said before, I'm flexible.  I'm used to working with people in different time zones than me.
>! # Some introduction of yourself: who you're, where you live, how old you're, etc.
>! I'm currently 20 years old, and reside in the United States.
>! Well that's boring.  How about I describe my musical inspirations?  They include Between the Buried and Me, The Mars Volta, Pure Reason Revolution, Poets of the Fall, Queen, and in terms of older music, Mendelssohn, Sibelius, Holst, and Dvorak.
>! # Perhaps some prices. (Makes it harder to get a job)
>! Here's where things get a little bit tricky.  Obviously, I want money, and obviously you don't want to pay a cent.  So here's how it works for me. If a game is going to be completely free, with no subscription fees or anything like that, then I'm usually okay with doing one free song or so.  Honestly, I might even write a whole soundtrack if I'm in the right mood.
>! HOWEVER.  If your game is a commercial endeavor, and you do indeed plan on making money off of it, then talk to me individually.  If you do use my music in this particular case without my consent, it is unfortunately illegal.  Use your best judgment please.
>! In general, a name in the credits is always nice.
>! # What you expect of the game you're working for.
>! I like originality.  That might score you another free song.  But more than that, I like drive.  I love to see a team work together to make something incredible.  All too often projects are abandoned and left incomplete.  If I see a game with true potential with a dedicated team, and I mean dedicated, I respect that greatly.  I wouldn't mind at all doing an entire soundtrack for you if you fit that particular bill.

# Some contact information like your e-mail address (Don't post the topic and just leave, be active).

The easiest way to get in contact with me is to simply pm me.  I'm usually online here.  Failing that, my most empty e-mail account, and therefore the one I will be most likely to answer promptly, is:

[email protected]

I also use:

[email protected]

But that account is used mostly for my AIM.  Other ways to contact me would be Skype, with the username:

Kwang-11

If necessary, I will give out my phone number on an individual basis.

All your songs here are classical-like soft tempos. Could you try a battle-themed song? Something heavy, and exiting?

I think it would get a lot more attention if you had at least one heavy song on here to show the range of your music.

Well, since you asked, Ages will be up within the hour most likely. It's an old progressive metal song I made a while ago, and it's actually on Last FM if you look hard enough, which is kind of cool.  I'll probably upload a redone version of one of my older songs too, just need to clean it up a bit.

Alright, I'm uploading Ages and White Void.

Ages is, in short, one of my best songs ever.  I'm not saying it in a bragging way, I'm merely saying that I've unfortunately never topped it.  I have a similar situation in a lot of things.  I made a map in Halo 3 before any of the advanced forging techniques like interlocking or geomerging and ghostmerging were ever discovered.  To date, I have never made a better balanced competitive slayer map than that one.  Not sure why that happens so much.

White Void is one of my friend's favorite songs.  I'm currently working with him on an animation called The Drifter, and he's honestly much more talented than I am when it comes to animation.  Anyone who has BlazBlue will understand what the song is referencing.

The songs should be attached to the main post by the time you've finished reading this.

Wow, I just listened to white void, Clearly an Epic Boss battle type of song.

If you are the one who played all the melodies in it (Drums, Violin, guitar, special effect notes) then I believe you've got a real talent. Ever think of going pro?

I think I could use a song like White Void in my game. I cant pay is my only issue, Game's free tho.

PM me. Tell me if I can use the song White Void, It'd go great with my many Boss battles.

Precisely why I really wouldn't be able to do this professionally: Everyone loves music, and no one is ever willing to pay to hear or use it.  There are plenty of incredibly innovative artists and musicians (that are much, much more talented than I) that are financially screwed simply because it's just too difficult to make any serious money.  There's a reason that I'm majoring in Digital Media and not Music.

Feel free to use these songs that I posted though, like I said, the last two are on Last FM anyways.  As long as you point out somewhere that I made it, as it's pretty much the only advertising that I get.
