shrogg
thanks!but yeah, I do sometimes get things wrong, but when it comes to map design and 3d modling, I feel at home :)[edit]btw, the "vanquish" map is half done, as i am still adding sceenery, but a quick question, under wich tile sheet is the grass-to-ocean tiles?i cant find them :D
balliztik1
Most of the issues I see are tile choice issues. The cobblestone path you've used isn't actually a path, but part of a mountain tileset. As such, it doesn't have the edges you need. Then, some of the offshoot paths you've used are much different than the cobble, so it just looks like a few squares of awkward tiling. The goal in mapping is to make the square limitations disappear.Look at this topic: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,60024.0.html. In it, Bobbus shows some nice city tileset usage, and I linked an image of Kreator's tileset usage. You'll notice in both of those, even with the squarish texture taken on by some of the tiles, they still flow, whereas you can pick out the 32x32 tiles in several places on your maps above, most notably where cobble meets grass. azkanan
Not bad, considering you're a newbie. When newbies come to Eclipse and say "Check out my maps" **everybody** checks it out just so they can laud over how crappy it is - but this is not the case, here. But I do have one irritation… Why are all the doors open? Thieves will get in! D:
Kinjiru
Yeah they look pretty good, my only problem is the paths, they dont flow well and you have bad transitions for when you change paths, and you need to pic one that has an edge that blends it with the grass
shrogg
ok, ill do that when i get back from school, but right now, i will answer some of your questions.> The cobblestone path you've used isn't actually a pathyeah, i just saw that, but hey, im just getting used to the tile sets, and from memory this is my second ever "play-around" with tile sets :P> Why are all the doors open? Thieves will get in! Di have been asking in the shout box how to get doors to work, because all of my attempts so-far have been failures :D
