LaurenciaX
Di-lang, best thiefs on their continent, who have their encampment near the island of Dywende, with whom they have disagreement about this forest.(If it was important to you.) Guest
I feel that if it were a forest, there would be less lighter, maintained grass. I feel that the darker green wild grass should be more common. Also, the pond or lake on the bottom is too squarish. AND MORE TREES!! IF ITS A FOREST THAT IS…
LaurenciaX
@dreadhead:> I feel that if it were a forest, there would be less lighter, maintained grass. I feel that the darker green wild grass should be more common. Also, the pond or lake on the bottom is too squarish. AND MORE TREES!! IF ITS A FOREST THAT IS…OK, step by step…I will see what can I do with the grass, but if it(long grass) would be everywhere, it would look quite repetitive.About the lake-the map (and the lake) is so big that it couldn't fit in one screenshot. So in reality lake isn't squarish at all.And about trees-good advice, but I want that players still have enough place to walk.I will update picture with corrections. Sage
I honestly prefer the first one more; I think it looks perfect for a forest. The second one has TOO many trees imo.
mrmiguu
Less trees.More detail on grass and surroundings.Putting more trees to cover the bland ground is like wearing an opera mask to give your boring personality some life.
LaurenciaX
And what am I supposed to do now?Which one is the right opinion?I will try to find the golden path between these two and will update my post.(3rd time, doh..)
Anna Comnena
They are alright, but you should space out the trees a little bit (especially if you only use 1 tree sprite).A couple tips, you shouldn't have the same detail object directly in a row with another one of the same type (for example, the stumps in 2 of your images). Stagger them around a bit for a more organic looking effect, this is the same with any natural object, not just a stump or bush. Also you should add more than one tree type.Basically the thing with tileset mapping, is you want to try to limit repetition as much as possible, while at the same time maintaining a consistant graphical theme. I think you have it in general, you just need practice.:)
