Death Knight
Do you guys have a male sprite yet? Or do you just have the female.
luriok
0.O That is the male sprite it just has one of the many many hairstyles that will be available when customizing your character. (Nightshade just chose to make the first sprite with long hair :P )
Death Knight
Oh okay :P you should show some more pictures with the different hair styles. It will attract more people.
luriok
I will but we are still fixing the bases of all the graphics so I believe that is our only one pixeled so far.
NnsNightshade
Yes because having hair…with an unfinished finished base...would look...awkward of sorts....
Death Knight
Oh okay. I think the different hair will be really cool in the game.
NnsNightshade
Though apparently the sprite base itself would need fixing due to the view of the cliff/platforms in-game. So that's what we're trying to settle at the moment.I've never EVER made a side scroller.
shwamshwam1
@NnsNightshade:> ![](http://s882.photobucket.com/albums/ac28/SilverSeraphSoul/edscre.png)I think the sprite is too tall
NnsNightshade
Its rather the background is too short. xD That will change. Seraph was just working in a little gridlike area. The real game screen will be much more…expansive.
shwamshwam1
oh ok, i was saying it in comparison to the tiles also :P
NnsNightshade
I guess I COULD shrink my sprite to fit his stuff….but that'd be unfair, seeing as my sprite base came first. >OYeah, I s'pose I'll do that since Azyru wanted a certain view anyhow. luriok
Updated the first post. But I'll keep updating it as we get further into things.

NnsNightshade
Tried to fix my sprite to match Seraph's tiles. >_> Its hard so I'm still making edits. Started on an enemy(?)/pet(?) Also started basic walk animations which will be up later. Someone told me my sprite looks like banjo kazzoy or whatever that is xD I dunno.![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/terrorofdeath8/ED_Avvy.png)
shwamshwam1
looking good Nns,i like that glob type npc thingy xD
NnsNightshade
This is the actual sprite base (Male)![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/terrorofdeath8/edmalebase.png)I'm not sure if Azy wants walking similar like so:![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/terrorofdeath8/walky2.gif)Or to the side. Yet so…I have to wait for direction. And Seraph emailed me some sandstone tiles for a desert place:![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/terrorofdeath8/sandstone.png)I think he's working on regular sand paths to match it now. Then when Azy lays out the level, he'll probably work on the backdrop to the desert places. And I started working on a character concept of the character I fangirl from the game, while waiting for animation and pet/enemy approval and direction:![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/terrorofdeath8/astromith1.png)
shwamshwam1
i think that the face looks a little flat, like it has been hit by a shovel xDDDi think that you need to define the nose and mouth a bit more, and also try and get shading on the face, because it looks like one tone to me. But I do agree that his face is a little bit flat. Try and add some depth to it.
NnsNightshade
Alright~ Thank you. Also, theres no nose…. Um. I was originally wanting to go with cel-type shading for the face, not pixelly. Which is probably why it looks "flat". Its just got anime-shading and not typical sprite style shading. xD And I think some of the shading comes with the hair, which is why it didn't look as flat on the non-base. The hair pieces and eyes make a difference! You also never see a naked base with nothing on it in-game. Its just there so I can use it to put hairs and eyes on :P
Death Knight
So are you planning on adding a nose? Because it would make it look a lot better.
NnsNightshade
I could, but I think that would look weird, myself. O_oI like the chibi-flatfaced-no-nose type of look. Then again, I'm more into anime, and I know alot of people here aren't so much. And the artwork in general will be anime no-nosed flat face people, so that might throw it up a bit, too. I can't draw cartoony or realistic. ^^;But I'll try to change it up maybe. And make a nose. Though yeah, I won't like it so much anymore. xD But I s'pose I can save my favourite styles for my own game coming after this.
Fuu
Did you.. DRAW that animation?
shwamshwam1
@Beast:> So are you planning on adding a nose? Because it would make it look a lot better.I think that you should go for drawing a nose, adds reality to the game.
Anna Comnena
I think noses for that style of sprite is a waste of time in my opinion. You gotta remember the scale: often less detail says more than trying to add minute details to everything.
NnsNightshade
Um…I don't think realistic is what I'm shooting for in a 2D sidescroller. >_> But like I said, I can try. But typically I don't like sprites like that myself, for a chibi-anime based game (unless I change the look of the game as a whole -- That is up to Azyru).Yes, I DREW it quickly, as an example for Azyru to look at to determine if it is to walk isometrically or to the side....because if I'd just explain it, well I'm terrible at explaining what i mean, so sketching a cruddy example is better to get my point across.
