Hi, I just got a new computer but the EO client RTE when loading.  Pic below.

I'm running it in Compatibility mode for Windows XP service pack 3 and running it as Administrator.  I have installed the Run times multiple times, with and without the UAC on.

What am I doing wrong?

I've looked at the FAQ, and to my knowledge my sound card is working fine.  Is there a way to check if it's working?

Don't post if you don't bother to read the whole OP.

@Athagekin:

> Did you update your sound card drivers when you got the computer? It might be because of a bug or two from using an outdated driver.

I see no warning signs when I look in the Device manager under the 'sound, video, and game controllers' tab.

Then the problem is not with your sound card/drivers…
Try run it from VB6 (if you alreaddy installed it), and post the highmarked line, that would help a lot.
Else try regsvr32 C:\Windows\system32\dx7vb.dll in cmd...
I know you installed the runtime files, but try it ones again: http://www.robin.freemmorpgmaker.com/eo_runtimes.zip

EDIT: download the runtime files from the link above and install them.
Because it happens ones to me that I installed old runtime files.

> So, aaron told me to restart my computer.  I did and it now works.  I feel dumb, but I also think that it should be noted in the FAQ that restarting your computer may help.

This is computing 101\. I do not need to suggest to people to turn their computer off and on.
