Sir Topham Hatt
I want to learn how to connect the CS:DV engine to a MySql database. I've tried to do it myself but I do not know enough about MySql.What I need to happen is:User clicks loginSend data to the webhostWebhost sends data to serverServer connect to the clientAt least this is what I think should happen, like I said I haven't the slightest clue about MySql. Have to learn sometime though.

Joyce
If you ever implement SQL into the server, I will chop your head off.But yeah, ADODB is the way to go.. It's horribly slow though.
Sir Topham Hatt
Thanks I had no idea ADO was. I'll begin shortly after I figure out what I have to do for the database*part.

jcsnider
Some tips for you from someone who has actually programmed MySql into Eclipse in the past. (Failed BTW)Vb6 is single threaded, when you sent a get or put command to the database it ties up your server for as much as 2 seconds. In this time EVERYTHING will freeze, NPCS, player actions, etc….This is the part where I failed. (2 years ago) However others have succeeded in this recently. Robin has a secondary server that is specially made (as far as I know) to handle the MySql queries and send the data back to the real server then the real server sends the login info.If you choose to do that method or completely disregard my post I would overall recommend some testing.Good Luck! Sir Topham Hatt
Thank you very much! That is information that I needed to know. I think my knowledge for this type of programming is too low. From what I gathered I need two servers. One for the game and then one for the data base. The client, and then the MySql database.
