Because you obviously did it wrong. >_>

Map size is linked in to the camera code in Origins. This is what allows us to have dynamic map sizes.

If you change the screen size then you need to change the minimum map size in the source.

You'll also need to change the size of all the existing maps to _at least_ match the new screen size. You can do this by editing each one manually through the properties dialogue or just deleting all your maps and letting the engine re-populate the flatfile set.
