**I highly recommend you visit [www.spacerambles.com](http://www.spacerambles.com) for news, blogs, and forums. This post is just to get publicity for the game!!!!**

Freecon Galactic is a 2D space mmorpg being developed by my friends Free and Jakkob. It's obviously a low budget game, but with high standards. The Alpha release was scheduled for february, but they are running a little late. Hopefully it will be soon! They have improve lots of things including:

Graphics - ships - planets - turrets - missiles
Particle Engine
Bloom
Defenses
Warping to different systems

The game will be amazing, if you want to see old sceenshots and everything just look at the old post spolier below. If you want to see newer screenshots, please just visit the website!

>! This, my friends, is Freecon Galactic, codenamed Space Rambles, that my friends have been working on for almost a year now. These screens above are new and old, respectively. This game is programmed using C++ I believe, and it is a 2D space game. It is not a eclipse game, and it is not crappy either. This is going to be a great game, and the **ALPHA RELEASE** is sometime this month! If you want to get a glimpse of this awesome sexy space game in action, go to there website and sign up, and follow the MP directions to get into the Alpha!

>! It is being programmed by a team of guys I know from another space game I play. They're names are Free, Jakkob, Ilaan, Tucker, and Alan. Great guys and I can't wait to play this game. You guys should also be excited! The more players, the better!

By whom? Kids? Having that graphics that look "like something from 10+ years ago" doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. That's like telling your grandmother that if she wants to be taken seriously she should replace that old TV she saved from her time and get one that's from this century.

My grandmother has a flat screen TV. I take her seriously.

Oh, wow, couldn't have figured that out by myself.

Wow, those effects are damn pretty. Just wondering, do you think that the particle system is going to take a lot of power from GPU/CPU? Because I have a shitty computer, I mean, netbook.

Basically, my netbook is not so shitty, but when games need Hardware TnL(Shadows and Lights), my pc kind of… you know... runs the game with low FPS. I'd recommend an option to turn the Particle System on or off.

There's no way a little 2D particle system could cause an FPS drop unless there's a memory leak or something.

Oh wow! Thanks Mr Whack for posting up this page, it's at the top of the results when you google Freecon Galactic! We're currently working on the website and new brand identity for Freecon Galactic to supercede the Codename 'Space Rambles'.

Those images that he uploaded in the first post are absolutely ancient! That video was from October! While I haven't got any more up to date videos, I do have some pretty screenshots. I'll attach them here so that the board (hopefully) scales them down!

To all who are curious, the game is being coded in C#/XNA with our own engine. We've got multithreaded networking and physics. And as for the requirements for the graphics, one of our devs has a Radeon X300 with 32mb of GPU memory (steals up to 128mb from system too) who runs the game with disabled bloom. For more info, check this post…I can't post link. Hmm, well the link is (copy and paste this):

Check out the forums and sign up if you're interested! We're right around the corner from alpha and could use any input from alpha testers. :)
