You dont seem to be understanding it at all…

See that map? The paths arent as abnormally wide as yours, and they are almost stop-go and a lot more patchy. Your paths are too wide, and dont have any breaks or patches in them.

On the contrary, if the ground is muddy, you can make a fairly large splotch in one step. If you fall on the ground, you could make an even larger one. Those little splotches made it look more natural.

Do what ~~chief~~ Wyz says and make the paths thinner and more foresty like, the player will be able to follow them. I also think you might be going just a tad heavy on the gravel, maybe take a few of the piles out, and put a pile or two by the grass. Rocks can be on grass, too.

You need autotiles for the paths to look that smooth.
