  1. Baron might still have his scripts, if you ask him I'm sure he'd be happy to help you. As for transferring the maps.. I'm not sure really, it might be possible.
  2. @MrMiguu: > >inb4RobinDefendsVB6 I know. I'm just waiting for this, or criticising my topic or something. :P @MrMiguu: > I read: "Basically, I am learning C++ […]" and figured that this isn't worked on much from where I think you stand. You should have held off on making this thread until you've made some considerable progress (see Eclipse.NET). > > I'm not criticizing you, just letting you know that you've put some of burden's weight on your own shoulders for the sake of notoriety. Yeah, I know what you mean, I shouldn't have made the topic so quickly after getting the idea, but yeah, I want some opinions on whether or not people think it's a good idea for a learning experience. Previously I had been talking to people on the shoutbox about it, which after a while I think was getting a little spammy and annoying. I know you're not criticising me, and you're right anyway. Thanks for the input.
  3. @Jungle: > What libraries will you use? SDL and OpenGL I presume? Yes, definitely. @Eckhart: > I'm all for doing this and to learn from it, but make sure you can do most of the aspects of the engine before you do it… Robin made a nice post about what you need to learn first... > It'll be long and a challenge, but if you have the time and the motivation, do it. Thank you for your support, and thank you for that nice quote. I hadn't read that before. Gives me a good idea of where to begin (as I'm leaning more towards starting from scratch, more learning and I know what I've done and how I've done it). And yeah, I'm not rushing headlong into this. I'm learning as much as I need to before I feel confident that I can begin work on it. I can't learn by building something that I have no idea how to build. That's just silly.
  4. @Lenton: > This board is meant for **Eclipse related** questions "Ask for help regarding any aspect of Eclipse development". > > Website development is a common subject and is **part of overall game development therefore deserves its own board.** I don't really see the problem.

    Directx8

For god sakes dude [This engine](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,78988.0.html) has a quest system, many other features and bug fixes. Use it.
  6. @Captain: > lol. C's older than VB. Vb6 is pretty much unsupported and unused now, which is basically what I meant. I should have been more clear, sorry. It's written like: > .. outdated.. Because I wasn't really sure how to word it. If it annoys you I'll edit my main post.
  7. @Sherwin: > Where is the version 4 Download link? why would you want an _outdated_ version of something?
  8. **UPDATE:** I've made a decision. I won't be attempting this project at this time. I've actually just come up with an idea for my own Eclipse project that I will be working on. I will still be learning C++ on the side, but for now, I won't be attempting a rewrite of Eclipse in C++. I will most likely get around to it in the future, when I am more confident in my C++ skills. Sorry for anyone who had their hopes up and stuff, I specifically warned you not to, but I apologise none the less. **THE ORIGINAL POST WILL REMAIN HERE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED FOR WHATEVER REASON:** Basically, I am learning C++ and I am thinking of doing what Marsh did and worked on building an Eclipse engine to help me learn. I am still undecided whether or not I will start from scratch or pick up where Marsh left off. (This is largely dependent on whether I want to actually see the project to completion or do it for the learning experience alone). Edit: I've decided that I won't be using what Marshy Dearest has already made. It will most likely still use the .net framework, though. I feel as if I have hardly been any contribution to the community since the scripting boards were removed so this might just by my gift to you all. I have a lot (and I mean A LOT) of free time on my hands so time for this engine won't be too much of an issue, except if my girlfriend wants me to spend time with her. Anyway, so what I'm here for is your thoughts, mainly, will this be a good learning experience for me? Also support and (I guess) ideas for the engine (**But keep in mind this is not just a suggestions thread, so that isn't all I want to see**) It will also not likely be an official Eclipse release, either, unless it's debugged and deemed worthy by Marsh. (Which of course there will be bugs because I'm only learning, I'm no professional) So yeah. What are your thoughts on this? Keep in mind it will be a long time before you see major progress being made on this as I won't be starting right away and as I said, I'm no professional so I'm not fast either. **IMPORTANT:** I definitely DO NOT suggest holding out on your game for this OR CONVERTING to this if it is released. Honestly, that's just stupid, because it won't be too much of a performance boost or hundreds of new features, it's just eclipse rebuilt in a more supported language. VB6 is not defunct. You will still be capable of building and running your game if you use VB6\. Do not think that you must wait for this engine to be released. **This thread will be updated whenever, if at all, necessary.** **Oh and lastly, the reason this is in discussion and not custom versions is because it's still an idea and I want some opinions/support/whatever first.**
  9. Well instead of posting in forum games or offtopic, they just post useless criticism or comments on games and what not. also; 1
  10. @Fernz: > This custom version has a very runescapey feel to it No it doesn't. For god sakes man, posts aren't everything, you don't need to post random stuff to reach 100 posts. You could just try being helpful. I racked up over 1000 posts just helping people out in the scripting boards back in the day when eclipse used scripts. It works, trust me. But if you really do think it has a runescapey feel to it, then what about it makes it like runescape?
  11. I'm interested in how he would use the .gif's Sounds like a bit of work using it with sprites and stuff.
  12. I believe they need to be .bmp because the engine only supports .bmp (Well it used to, I don't know what it supports now-a-days (nostalgic moment)) As for whether or not you can change that… Not sure. I think you can but best ask someone who knows better.
  13. @Finalmix16: > So I did it again but this time I rename the file as "158" and put the name/number of the sprite "158" and it did not work again… > > I couldn't see my char correctly, I mean I saw only a part of his body... This sounds correct, but the "part of his body" thing sounds like it is a graphical issue not a technical issue, ie, the sprite is in the wrong format.
  14. Out of curiosity, what job exactly is this for?
  15. Looks like I'm qualified! @Zesh: > @[Pie: > > > ICT link=topic=79439.msg851055#msg851055 date=1334324237] > > I expected the last part to say "Applicants should be familiar with microsoft word" > > I was expecting the same.

    Halo 4

The idea was basically to make you feel like you're the guy in the super suit, it's not that Chief wasn't a super human in previous games, you just didn't feel that way, especially because of Halo: ODST, where you were able to do everything Chief did.. but you were an ODST, a regular human who just so happens to like to get dropped out of ships above atmosphere. Cortana always was defective, just that this is now made more apparent, she was defective because of the sheer amount of information she took from the halo rings in Halo: CE. Also a lot more stuff based around the forerunners who are mentioned and key to the story of halo 1,2, 3 and just about every halo, only that most of the forerunner structures you encountered were dormant, whereas they announced that the structures will now more often be active. Supposedly the story line will be worked on more (well, obviously) and it will link together with the information gathered from terminals in Halo: CE Anniversary. Blah blah new guns, better graphics, cooler multiplayer and all that jazz will of course also be included. There will be a Halo 4, 5, and 6 as had been intended by 343 for a long time (before halo was handed over to them). Halo 4 will be the beginning of the problem, halo 5 will be the darker and more complex part of the problem and halo 6 will be the resolution. Just filling in a few gaps and correcting some minor inaccuracies that Fuu mentioned. Been a halo fan for most of my life.
  17. This is why I always return to this forum. No, not for pictures of Marsh's dick. But it's usually worth a few lols. (the forum, not his dick)
  18. TBH it's basic because Robin pretty much stripped Eclipse of all of it's features which was the only effective way to remove the majority of the bugs. But really, it can't be much more than basic because if it was full of every feature a man could think of, there is no room for creativity. We'd all be playing the same game with a different name.
  19. @renzo: > Give him some sunglasses and you got a perfect "Dat Ass" image. Do this. Now. @Dremek: > Hair looks a little funny. Can't put my **tongue** on why though. Your.. tongue? what? You put your tongue on this drawing? Anyway, looks alright, face is kind of odd. Better than anything I could do, never tried using a tablet though actually but yeah, I'm sure I'm just as graphically challenged with one as I am with anything.
  20. LEETopf Can't remember if I mentioned that it changed. Anyway yeah. Probably will name change in the near future though
  21. These appear to be just rmxp sprites, hardly even recoloured if at all.
  22. Sup just dropping by for one of my random visits, don't know how long i'll stay.
