  1. First of all, you might want to tell people some details that you would like in the GUI, or even a game that proves the work would not go to waste. If not, you can make GUI in a free programs such as 'gimp' or paint.net if you don't have Photoshop. Thanks to dx8 you just simply change the opacity in the image editor, save as .png, and it will retain the transparency.
  2. Interested whenever room is available!
  3. @Rob: > Video of 8 Way Movement, with 8 Way Shooting and Aggressive NPC AI > -snip- > If it looks like Aloria, it's because I haven't done any new sprites or tiles for this yet, and haven't ported in the ones from the other build ;) You get the idea of how fast paced this can become though. That video has me all excited now! haha All of that shooting gave me an idea for a puzzle mode (in the future). It would be cool to have rebounding surfaces and you had to shoot at an angle at one of those surfaces to kill an enemy thats shots are blocking a pathway. Hard to explain, but it would be a cool single player addition on the side :)
  4. Not really bugs. Just a lot of things didn't have a front end, you had to figure out how to make it easier on yourself(a couple tutorials cover most of it). Other than that, same bugs as EO.
  5. Haha good luck man! I'm really excited for a change of pace 2d game, outside of common rpg's!
  6. Big list, but hey its Rob Janes we're talking about! Btw, I will be on that Top 100 List.. and not just because there won't be 100 players at first ;)
  7. @Rob: > Ammo? Unlimited ammo or have to refill your gun? If reloading, should we allow reloading while playing a match or only in the Lobby? I say have limited ammo, but have pickups in game to refill in small amounts. Adds more strategy than button mashing all day you know? Option 2: If you had other guns to toggle through, you would have 1 unlimited gun that did minimum damage in the case that special guns ran out. You would purchase new special ammo from the shop between matches. (I prefer this idea) @Rob: > Melee games? Having a hand to Hand combat match, where you can only do melee hits (melee is disabled in regular matches, but you can shoot someone standing next to you. Should I add this style of match? > > Foot step sounds? Yay or nay? I don't think the melee match sounds very fun. Melee could be enabled in the normal games so that incase you run out of ammo on an ammo system, you can do a sort of all or nothing run and hit kind of move. Ads to the level of player helplessness, and it feels more realistic. ;) Footsteps? I could see that working if the camera followed the player on a close scope. But if you can see a full map, nah wouldn't fit.
  8. I really like the idea of having perks. I can't wait to try the basic vb6 version actually, keep it up!
  9. That blink turns me on ;)
  10. First question, this could help: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,68906.0.html
  11. Its a random problem that happens for some reason. Only suggestion I have is to try moving the tileset slider and returning to the tileset you need, hopefully it refreshes. If not, try canceling and opening it again. I'll try to replicate the problem and get back to you. But it happens randomly for me.
  12. That was a refreshing hit of inspiration. EVERYONE on here needs to go read this, and then actually follow it. (I feel exactly the same as Tael about the WIP section)
  13. Thanks for the idea. I'll be trying to edit this (and da_gad_pader's tut) to actually work in an online setting. Right now its more of a single player rpg kind of code. (without paperdoll and any server side changes)
  14. There are no quests in the default Eclipse Origins engine. You need Visual Basic 6, and program it, or use a tutorial like this: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,70502.0.html ;)

  16. I'm going to be all over this game! -RED TEAM! :P
  17. Thanks, lowering the height of the legs helped a lot. As for the arm swing, it is opposite of the legs. The legs swing back when the hands swing forward. ;) ![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/2ebb10e55de6c1410750b45fb1b7d955.gif) -Jake
  18. Anyways… I like the current style of it (even without any further shading). Not planning on changing it. ;) Here's the walk animation I finally got time to throw together: ![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/0b5cb5f02faebe65d9c4b498a0a9c6da.gif) I feel like it has a problem.. any tips? -Jake
  19. @renzo: > The idea is still very half-baked, you need to take into consideration the economy with a fielty system. > How are the peasants going to get the money to pay their taxes? Are the Lords and Ladies going to pay them for their services? And are you going to have enough homes for everyone to live in? And peasants not allowed to enter cities, how are they going to get their supplies? Or deliver their products to the Lords and Ladies? > > Sounds nice but there are way to many things to think about to make this work. I agree with Renzo in a way. This exact concept would be like building a whole economy into a game. And real economy's are of course too complex for us to even predict correctly. It would be a cool study, but for a game… i don't know what would make it playable. This part is interesting though: > If anyone with a title is killed, their title automatically transfers to the killer That would be a cool feature for a game if it were planned out a little more. -Jake

@SAubryTV: > Yeah i noticed that, but it doesnt have the source, just the vbp. Isn't the vbp the source? You have to open it in visual basic 6 and compile the client. (Unless you mean something else)
  21. Yea, skill trees are WAY better gameplay wise. Players feel deeper in the game when they know they have to make a choice. Skill Trees being a big choice because your investing your earned points into a certain type of skill. You can split it up evenly, or just go all out on one branch. With a skill leveling system, it's good for a sense of growing as you use the skills more often. But with this system you could just grind time and level ALL skills to max. I think it can be unbalanced. Win: Skill Tree!

Looks nice man! The water is simple but works just fine like that, and the grass/water transition is perfect for that style. Keep it up, -Jake
  23. @Dash: > Did this awhile back and it was such a pain to make. > > It's LINK caramelldansen. > ![](http://i39.tinypic.com/1q5wsz.gif) I love it! Like soul said, I like the standing better, but the random dancing is fun too. haha
  24. @Taegan: > Exactly! Much better, nice. Thanks! :cheesy: @nameless_soul: > I see no future in your sprite…. what, I can't make a joke once a day? > > Anyways, you ignored my advices (Shading, Outlines, Hair) therefore I hate you. lol I didn't ignore your outline advice. I've always liked a chibi, stubby look on sprites and I don't see how I can keep that and change it completely, AND still keep the 2x2 pixel style. I'll be making more attempts at pixel art as I learn but this topic was about this specific sprite. As for hair and shading, I'll get to that, but I'd like to finalize a base first. Btw I just noticed who you were, I need to talk to you (PM)
  25. @Toranos: > Actually yeah, that seems to be something i've neglected.. Removing the black line around their forehead areas should hopefully fix that. Thanks Jake. Yea that's definitely it. & No problem, anxious to see more! (Especially being Merrimint.. again :P)
