  1. If you were a real programmer, you would know that language doesn't matter. I could script in Unity and it still counts as programming. I will tell you what matters: results. Who else can get results around here? That's what I thought. It's not about my ego, it is about people claiming that they can do a better job when they clearly cannot. When you go around going Construct boii, when you never even proved to anyone you know how to make video games. I actually have worked very hard for what I have done, what have you to show? I may not be perfect, but I sure do try to be as good I can with the tools I have available to make games.
  2. > pl0x don't copy us; ![](http://i.imgur.com/lwX1FUu.png) I don't need to copy, I can do it much better. ;) You cannot even back up a database, not that hard to defeat your community. You are one of the typical programmers who acts all high and mighty, but fails to ever complete or do anything awesome. You are no threat to Eclipse.
  3. The website is very old and needs another **Robin **like leader which is what I am trying to do. Every **Head Developer **is essentially stepping up a ladder and then moving on, we got many members who have left **Eclipse**, because they have grown out of MMOs or want to move onto a better language, but I honestly see no reason to since I am still learning how to make games better even with this poor language.
  4. > It's the community that has driven me away here, not your code or your plans for the engine, but the site leadership (excluding yourself and Agora) I am working with @[member="Link"], and trying to make sure the moderation is as good as possible. It's going to get worse before it is better, it just got adopted by a new owner. There's a lot of improvement the site needs first before moderation will be improved.
  5. > Not a fan of where things are headed with the community, but I am a supporter of the VB6 Engine and Eclipse Worlds (Good Luck Helladen!) We're focusing on plugins and open-source. What could be wrong? Could you elaborate? I think you are just spectating too early and getting the wrong impression.
  6. I will try to come up with a more dynamic feature system for Eclipse Worlds. To make customizing it easy and not requiring effort in the source-code. I just want to focus on the current battlesystem right now and make it good before really striving to add more.
  7. We would have to redesign the combat code, to allow easy implementation of custom battle systems before anyone would dare to want to do it. It's just not that compelling to do.
  8. I've done a series of maintenance tasks to the board to address these issues. Let me know if it continues.
  9. The autotile function is built-in. It has RPG Maker XP and RPG Maker VX respectively.
  10. > How can I change the font or add another feature (such as textbox, label….etc.) in frmMain? Cuz it don't have any thing in. > > Like this >> [http://oi60.tinypic.com/zvevtl.jpg](http://oi60.tinypic.com/zvevtl.jpg) It's all hardcoded in the source.
  11. > Worlds is by far better than Eo4 specially if the good features are copied and optimised from eo4 to there; > > sorry to see you paied for that :/ I am going to optimize all the systems and revamp them. Pet system will be redone at the base and enhanced.
  12. > No offence intended, but I'd rather see a cleaned up code for EO 4 rather than converters into Worlds, just my two-cents and I have a feeling other people feel the same way. Eclipse 4 clean up will take more work than making a DX8 UI. I am not that motivated to work on two engines at once or I would, but I honestly do not think it is wise to spend my time on something not many people enjoyed in the first place.
  13. > Is there a reason I should switch from EO3 to this? I'm not that far in my project so I could easily switch. EO4 is much better (DX8 UI, optimizations, and many more features that EO3 did not have such as pets, houses, and random dungeons), but it is really limited to only programmers right now. It has code that was not properly removed since it used an authentication server to prevent people from using the engine when it was closed-source. I am going to be making converters for this, to move to **Eclipse Worlds**, you can wait til the engine is more mature and move there since I will add all the features this has plus more. It's basically going to have all the greatest features - in one package so that people don't have to dig around themselves for what they want.
  14. > Doesn't seem very related but I have a noob question, which version of direct X does this use? DirectX8.
  15. Eclipse was never designed for anything other than MORPG games. If you are using it for a zombie survival game, you are better off using Construct 2 or Unity. Basically, this engine is going to make a unified experience of games, that feel similar, but are able to be altered to feel different similar to what RPG Maker does.
  16. > ANNNNNND the fact that EW is now the official engine changes NOTHING. People don't HAVE to use it. EO 4.0 was the official engine too and look how that turned out. That's cause it was closed-source. > Fair enough will all judge how it is once its out i just still think this topic wasnt necessary till after 1.3.0 Converters take time to do, I wanted to figure out what engines I need to convert. Seems like 2.3, 3.0, and 4 are my choices.
  17. > Appearance is very important so is performance and you cant tweak yours very easy it was so buggy most couldnt tweak source ( idk if you've fixed this or not) Editing source issue was fixed in 1.2.6\. I am working on making sure it is completely stable for 1.2.6\. Then I will work on more features and UI replacement for 1.3.0.
  18. > Don't try and justify. It looks bad. Appearance is very unimportant. Features are more important. You can't edit picture boxes yourself? People can tweak the engine to fit their needs and obviously no I did not say everyone will want to use it, but it is the main engine now and people are going to have to use it or use an older version of Eclipse to fit their needs. It's why I spent a year working on features and figuring out the best way to do them.
  19. > Agree 100% with sky theirs nothing wrong with eclipse worlds it has gone a long way from the original but it just needs a bit more work before you guys start trying to moving everyone over there. I am making the converters for 1.3.0\. Wing is making a custom UI. We're aware that people like DX8 UI, even though I could make an awesome game like Silverdale that doesn't even use DX8 UI. People just always got a reason not to make a switch. It'll always be that way.
  20. > Eclipse Worlds is anything but polished at the moment. It's actually very polished. It has bugs, but if you look at the changes I made to it compared to original Eclipse engine, that is polish. It might not be super appealing in the front, but in the back it is very good.
  21. RPG Maker games bring people in from outside the community, because the style is refined and polished. It doesn't matter if games are cookie cutter of Eclipse Worlds, there's enough room in there for creativity. We also want people to actually finish games and not feel discouraged that they have to program. The more people that finish their games, the more active the community will be. > and if you have a custom engine why switch to worlds even if theirs the option to turn features off thats still space taken up in code thats not required if you don't need the feature period It won't really affect the performance.
  22. > Exactly what i was trying to get at UnGod in his first post though he said we want to bring everyone under one i just don't think that will ever happen. I am trying to convert as many people as possible, I will be adding more features over time, and making you able to script in the Event Editor as well as add in a better core engine which is pretty appealing in my opinion to make the switch. Some people may want to keep using their current engine of course, like Nin Online won't be switching cause the amount of work to convert is too great. You also will be able to turn off certain features in the future as well for the people concerned about bloat.
  23. > Don't get me wrong im sure some might find this useful but "bring everyone under one engine" i dont think was best choice of words just my opinion The only reason people edit custom versions is cause there's no scripting. As long as the engine is made in such a way, that it isn't bloated and highly configurable, then everyone should want to use the official Eclipse engine.
  24. What engines do people use the most? I am going to make converters to bring everyone under one engine, upon the release of the new interface in 1.3.0 of Eclipse Worlds. I am willing to convert all the back to the old days of Eclipse Evolution if need be, please tell me if you have any important data and willing to actually use it. I don't want to make converters for data content that you do not plan to use in a game.
  25. By majority vote, it has been decided to add them back. **This topic has been closed due to the poll being closed. If you would like for it to be reopened please feel free to send a moderator a personal message with a reason.**
